“That’s not my decision”

"Ma'am, we are not a bank, and keep low quantities of cash in registers for safety and security. If you want to break a large bill, find a facility with safety measures sufficient to make handling that quantity of cash safe."

I love how people are always like “this is all I have, I don’t have anything else! Are you sure you can’t take it?” And the minute you tell them no, absolutely can not take it, don’t have enough change, sorry about that have a good day, they whip out a card or a ten.

Had a lady once ask me to use my tips to cover the other 95 cents on her 5.95 order because she didn't want to break a hundred and that's all she had left. First world problems.

(perks of licenced stores if I run out of change I just bug the front end)

My manager insist we just give the customer what they want. But I’ve also been told it’s technically a cash violation to open drop boxes so my baristas keep asking if we can break a hundred and I keep saying no and it’s just a stupid cycle like go to the bank and get change 🙄 why do people have so many hundreds anyway?!

What’s gets me is that you have to ask for the 100 dollar bill at the bank. So you have to go inside an actual fucking bank, wait in line, get up to the bank teller, and specifically ask them to cash you out in hundreds. Don’t get pissy with me big baller.

My response: "BITCH ARE WE BANK OF STARBUCKS!? No! Go get change or leave. I don't have change and i can't shit change" litterly i do similar responses with customer who think we can break $100 for a $5 dollars worth of drink. You either buy at least $50 worth or not.

My baristas do it but as I shift if I’m on the floor I’ll walk up and be like no since I’m regular closer and big bills fucks up our registers at times since we come close to running out of bills to cover us until the day we get our change order. I’ve had angry customers and I’ve even asked for smaller with twenties at times since partners during earlier times went ham with accepting twenties that it’s causing issues.

Didn’t every baristas for Starbucks signed an agreement lately about cash management? I’m pretty sure one of the is not taking 50$ or 100$ bills along with no breaking say like a 20$ for two $5 or two 10$
