who to contact about neglected maintenance? (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by aspiringandroid
my store (lil baby drive thru store in the American Southwest) is consistently 80°f or above in front of house (indoors...) all day, and it has been for several months. we've called in the troublesome air conditioner condenser unit several times, and it's had maintenance done on it several times to no avail. currently we only get air conditioning in back of house, and the broken condenser is leaking through our ceiling. work is starting to get uncomfortable and dangerous to our health (I take medications that make me much more sensitive to heat and prone to dehydration and heat sickness) and I don't know what to do. our SM hasn't really done much, and he's about to head on his third vacation in as many months. any advice would be awesome, thanks yall 💕

Edit: realized this is an absurd question for me to have to ask as a regular old hourly barista. drafting my letter of resignation and applying for new jobs lmfao

If they're coming in but not fixing the issue, make sure to re-open the old ticket instead of a new one (it makes a difference to your store budget b/c if the facilities contractor doesn't actually fix the problem, they don't get paid for coming out). Also, email or talk to your DM. They can light a fire under facilities' butts. If that doesn't work, talk to PCC.

You can call facilities as well, you dont need to be a shift.

thanks pal. I'll try that next shift!

So, you can call facilities, but they will delete your ticket as soon as they know you're not a shift.

That's not remotely true

In my store's experience, it has been. One of our baristas called in a Mastrena, and by the next day facilities had deleted the ticket without so much as a by your leave.

I wish you didn't have to
