Ok im not a barista but I need opinons (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by MrLeopard901
So I go to grab my drink at the Moblie Order Thingy which is out on the counter. I take it and the barista nearest to the handoff is like "uhh sorry did you just drink that, it's not yours". Im like "It has my name and its the order" and since im a teenager and he is a young adult (a difference of most likely 5 years) he is like "you cant take drinks off the stand until I call you because other people exist". So im confused, can I just take my damn drink from the stand and move on with my damn fucking life?

i’d say that if your drink is made and it’s on the mobile pick up stand then just take it. that person maybe was just having an off day or something:-/

honestly this is genuinely confusing. if the drink was out and no longer bar-side, i dont know why you wouldnt be allowed to take it. and its not like we check receipts either. it could just be that the barista thought they were making somebody else’s drink or something. i wouldnt take it too personally

As someone who travels a lot and visits many locations I can say that the majority have them accessible to just grab yout mobile order. Occasionally it's behind the bar but it's such a hassle when you see your drinks back there and either no one around or baristas are super busy and you don't want to ask them. But I can also say it sucks when people don't read the labels and grab the wrong drinks, I know it seems to happen more at particular locations.

As a barista, the person on bar is supposed to call out the mobile name and order. If no one responds to that, they leave it on the stand, and customers picks it up whenever. That barista probably had a different store policy, however, they shouldn't have addressed it that way.

I have worked in stores that do it both ways. Honestly it works out best to have them accessible to the customers. When something is missing or there is a problem with something being out of stock we just leave a note on the cup or pastry bag to see the barista.

In my new store the mobile order tower is behind the counter due to people stealing mobile orders and taking the wrong ones. We even have to bring the patio furniture inside every night because it has been stolen...twice. I moved to a shady area, lol. But maybe the barista mistook your order for a regular with a similar drink order, and was surprised to see it wasn’t that person? That’s all I could think off. At my old store we had it accessible to customers and there was never an issue but that’s all I could think of why the barista would say that :(

Huh. That’s interesting.

That store may have an issue with people taking mobile orders. For a while we had to have someone planted at m.o.p because of people stealing drinks. I would suggest just asking for your drink and not get upset. Things happen and sometime we have make people aware that we know drinks are being stolen. Don’t take it personally. That or just order at the reg?

The mobile order stand isnt supposed to be accessible to customers. You are supposed to be handed your drink by the barista but it's their fault for putting the mobile order stand where you can access it.

What? Really? I’ve never heard this. Ours is on the hand off plain where the rest of the drinks and food goes.
spill-that-tea-sis 10 points 4y ago
Same, we just have one counter for everything and it's easily accessible to anyone

Ours was that way until our district saw and he said that standard is for it to be behind the bar. He made us move it. Honestly, customers were upset at first but most came to appreciate it because nobody was taking their drinks anymore

we were recently just told something similar; our manager wants us to put the mobile labels facing us so people have to ask for their drinks but like,,,,,they can just turn them around and also if that’s the case why would you put the mobile station within customer reach????

When I mobile order my drink is just off to the side on the handoff plane with my name and order on it, I’m extra careful to read it and make sure it’s mine. The baristas never say anything aside have a nice day.
