hi everyone!! I'm gonna be starting sometime next week and I am starting to get a little nervous. I'm worried about what to expect and how everything will be. I know that it'll be a lot, learning all the drinks and everything.

does anyone have any tips or tricks? can anyone give me some advice? or any stories from when you were working that taught you something or made you smile (or not)?

I'd appreciate it :) thank you so much, and y'all have a great night (or morning/day/evening)

No one expects you to remember everything. Write down how many shots and syrup pumps go in each size drink for hot and iced and look over it when you get home. Don’t be afraid to ask questions and thank your coworkers for helping! Always show appreciation to your coworkers who are working extra hard to make sure everything goes smoothly while you’re training. You will not be good at the job right away, that is okay. You’ll be on front register in the beginning so tell customers that you’re still training especially if you can see they’re getting irritated. Show that you appreciate everything your coworkers are doing and you will be a well liked green bean. And don’t try to jump on bar right away! They’ll put you on there when the time is right, but if you think you’re ready after a few weeks of being there don’t be afraid to ask. Good luck :) Lmk if you have any other questions or concerns

When being trained on bar, something that was super helpful was downloading the sbux app and looking through both hot and cold drinks just to refresh my memory on what drinks get what. But you’re gonna do great! It’s just coffee, don’t stress yourself out too much

Hi there! I just finished training and now I'm doing some practice shifts. I'm still learning a whole bunch (I always ask questions) but having coworkers that are knowledgeable, kind, and patient with me is really helpful.

Advice: As my trainer and supervisor have said... ultimately, it's just coffee. Everyone will get their drink eventually. :) And as a new person, you're gonna need time to get used to everything and memorize routines and recipes. Once you tell customers that you're new, they'll generally be patient and even encouraging! So take your time and make sure that even if you're not the fastest, that the drink comes out right. And if there's a mistake or something, don't sweat. Just remake it and hand it over with a smile and a "thank you for being patient with me" or something. Make them feel good about their wait.

One thing that I do to try and memorize numbers of shots and syrup pumps for drinks is to make charts for each kind of drink with their code with a brief comment on how to make it. But don't do too much of this off the clock - you'll learn as you go, and you can always ask your coworkers for help. Make sure to show gratitude and be friendly towards them too! It'll go a long way.
