Back at it again and need some help! (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by Kaozilyn
So I've worked for the company about 5 years, annndddd now I'm back 2 years later to get some extra cash.

There's a bit of a kerfuffle with my return, however. I left right before white tea was introduced, infusions, dragonfruit, cloud macchiatos. . you name it. I'm being hired in at minimum wage (again, 5 years with the company, was a barista trainer, coffee master) with absolutely no training on any of the new beverages, and my first shift back is an open on the weekend.

The basics are like muscle memory for me, so I'm not worried about those (unless some have changed...), the customers I know what to expect it's mostly that I'm looking for some tips on new beverages, standards, etc. Like. . clean plays. What the hell is a clean play?? Is there anything new with mobile orders? Do we have changed policies on things that were super normal up until now?

What's the best advice you can offer (or "Pro tips" if you will) to make getting the hang of all this all over again as easy as possible? (seeing as I'm going to be left to my own powers of assumption to play catch up on 2 years of company growth).

All pastries are 2 days
egg bites are 7 days
Teas and refreshers just follow the pitcher.

REFRESHERS
refresher base to tea line + water/lemonade/coconut milk to water line (1:1 ratio) + ice + 1 scoop inclusions (2 for trenta)
Do not sweeten!

TEAS
1:1 ratio for tea to water/lemonade
Use the infusion line for the new flavors
Sweeten unless otherwise stated

Cloud is a pain. Just put the foam in first, then ice, then shots similar build to the Carmel macchiato. And the flavor is supposed to be blended in to the foam with the cloud powder.

The best milks for cold foam are skim and lactose free on speed 4; . I hate cloud powder it ruins cold foam imo and you get wayyyyyy better foam from the method above. It's so tasty

You're supposed to get trained again! I just finished training a rehire.

But anyway, yes clean play was put into place to give time when the store is closed to do extra deep cleaning. And most of everything is the same, except deployment has changed a bit and the cloud macchiatos are the most annoying thing ever. Just remember for blending cold foam: for cold brews is the 3 setting and cloud foam is the 4 setting.
Also if you are joining a nitro store, you'll have to learn how to make kegs and clean the taps, but there are videos on partner hub that can show you that! The other things like refreshers and teas should come to you pretty easily as not much has changed in that regard.
Good luck!
