Can I get a nitro lid with my trenta SARL? (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by MamaRedCard
Me: “No, I’m sorry ma’am. They don’t actually make nitro lids that fit the trenta cup.”

Her: “What? Seriously? They should. Just because I ordered a bigger size doesn’t mean I want to use a straw.”

Me: “...”

Her: “wow. Nothing? I guess you don’t care about the planet.”

Me: “... I use a reusable cup. Have a great day ma’am.”
Me in my head: “YOU ARE THE REASON I HATE PEOPLE”

🤣She felt fine. I saw her happily sipping from her straw. Remembering what a convenience it is to have a straw coming out of her giant plastic cup. I almost wanted to throw the “California uses paper straws now. I do believe Target sells them if you’d like to continue your crunchy granola pretentious ways.”

I live and work in LA and many locations have the trenta nitro lids already, but I haven't seen any paper straws yet. It's still inconsistent because Starbucks promised to be straw free by 2020

From what I’ve noticed in certain stores when I visit back home in northern CA, the Bay Area stores have the paper straws as well as a few stores in the valley. I think they may be testing it in the “smaller” CA stores and cities before shocking the entire state with zero plastic straws.

I’ve had someone look absolutely disgusted at the nitro lids for her iced tea, she asked me how does it work. I showed her a hot lid and said “well like if you were drinking a hot drink but now cold.” She seemed very weary of this concept.
