What's That Drink That You Figured Out You Were Making Wrong for the Longest Time? (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by manymade1
Because we all know you can't be a barista without this having happened to you.

For me, it was the Iced Matcha Latte. I used to just put the milk in, then the powder, then ice, and lightly shake it. I had no idea you were supposed to put it in the same shaker that you use to make the refreshers/teas. In my defense, it took a good 2 months for someone to correct me on this :p

Green Tea Frap. Completely forgot it had Classic in it for like 2 weeks after I first got on bar. No one noticed so I never cared until I finally looked at the recipe card
scarletsaboteur 3 points 4y ago
i thought they officially took the classic out of the recipe?!?
sadconcha 10 points 4y ago
didn’t know latte macchiatos got whole milk instead of just regular 2%. or that the cinnamon dolce latte got whip on top

I always forget that drinks made with blonde espresso get one less pump of syrup 😅
beetfarmer19 6 points 4y ago

booky_babe 3 points 4y ago

vanilla in regular cold foam... had no idea until I saw it on pos.
charliefrown13 6 points 4y ago
Learned today after over a year that espresso fraps just get 1 add shot on top of normal frap roast. Like a venti is one shot and four pumps frap roast.

And I checked the pos bc I didn't believe our 16-year partner when he told me. Been making them wrong for 14 months dude

I would always put water in iced chai's and then a coworker saw me doing it and corrected me and like... those poor people that had chai's when I was on bar oof

traderjoeszhoug 3 points 4y ago
I would forget to add Caramel syrup to Salted Cream Nitros.
shiphan 3 points 4y ago
Caramel cloud gets 2 pumps vanilla not 2 pumps caramel..... still doesn’t make sense to me
janocsag 3 points 4y ago
ive been making cafe misto's as americano misto every time
bebehsita 3 points 4y ago
just learned today the caramel clouds doesn't come with the cinnamon lemon syrup, its only the cinnamon one. i had been making the caramel cloud with vanilla syrup in the cup and foam with the lemon syrup
Aether3a 2 points 4y ago
Why would the CAM get caramel... and I never put water in a hot chai latte
booky_babe 1 points 4y ago
We don’t ever cut ours with water, my manager never showed me to and so many customers ask for no water anyways that I didn’t realize some places did for a couple months lol.
BreannaLyne 2 points 4y ago
The Java chip/double chocolate chip frappuccinos. I used to only put the Java chips in and completely omit the mocha until I was working with our temp ASM and he corrected me.

Also it adding classic to the strawberry and cream frappuccino.

Everyone in my store gives me a different answer for the classic in the scf which is so frustrating but today I was on bar with the SM and he said it was just strawberry puree, whole milk, base and ice. Wish I could get a clear consensus though.
BreannaLyne 2 points 3y ago
It should say on the register under the syrup after you put it in. I still never make it with classic and so far no one has brought it back so no harm there. Unless you count slightly less sugar harmful.

SAME omg hahahaha

When I first started, I was making London fog lattes wrong for MONTHS.

In my brain, it made sense that LONDON Fogs got Royal ENGLISH breakfast tea bags.

Someone caught me months in and was in shock that not only was I doing it wrong, but that we had never gotten a single complaint the whole time.
manymade1 [OP] 1 points 3y ago
> but that we had never gotten a single complaint the whole time.

Thats what makes all these cases so funny. 99% of the time, the customer never catches on.

I just figured out yesterday the new teas (guava, blueberry, peach) don’t have water in them like the regular teas do. I was like.... what??? 😭😂
manymade1 [OP] 4 points 4y ago
Wait really?! i thought it got a little bit
xoxoellie 1 points 4y ago
My manager told me I was making them wrong when I put water in them. I didn’t really understand either.
Graceooos 3 points 4y ago
Huh? I thought they are watered down due to the extra sugar in them, differentiating them from the previous infusions as those didn’t need water...
krispykreme2345 1 points 4y ago
Wait so, when you make the drink it still gets water, no? 😅
