Hot Mango Drangonfruit Refresher(self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by BreannaLyne
So for the past two days we've had this lady come in drive thru and insist on getting a hot Mango Drangonfruit refresher. When we tell her it only comes hot she claims that other Starbucks do it for her and keeps saying just make it like a hot tea.
Yesterday we gave it too her warm and she was fine with it, but today she told us to make it hotter and stick it in a microwave if we have to.
I seriously can't get over at how stupid customers can get when ordering a drink.

Oh my god. Tell her sorry we are not able to do that at this location. I’m sorry that other stores are not following procedures but this store is.she is more than welcome to go to another Starbucks or call corporate. I guarantee they will tell her the same, from personal experience of me telling a customer this. ( most Starbucks don’t have a microwave lol and if you do it’s for partner use only so I hope you aren’t doing that! Lol) regardless she sounds nuts. I bet they are steaming the mango refresher for her. Lol I was a borrowed shift at another store once and I saw them doing that for someone.

HUGE health code no-no to put items for customers into a partner-only microwave.

We didn't use our microwave, I just thought it was funny she assumed that we have one.

Lol that always makes me laugh too. My last store did this one does not. Honestly no one used it at my last store lol

Is it possible that they’re putting hot water in it instead of cold and leaving the ice out?

if the other starbucks makes it for her then why don’t she just go there!

Hmm. I suppose you could pour Mango Dragon Fruit base into a hot cop, then cut it with hot water and add the inclusions but it would be difficult to make it any hotter without steaming the base, which I wouldn't recommend since it's a concentrate with a high sugar content. In other words, this order is bonkers. Maybe she's thinking of the old Youthberry hot tea?

It ended up being mostly hot water topped with mango dragon fruit and the inclusions.

well i mean we do steam apple juice and lemonade, but we only steam to 130 because hotter than that burns the drink. it sound like a nasty concoction tho :/

Ive never had a customer order it, but my old shift and i used to make ourselves strawberry acai and apple juice steamed. Its pretty good! No berries though

I’ve had a guest complain that our coffee wasn’t hot enough. They were trying to hustle an americano, because first it wasn’t hot enough, then it was weak. I think we ended up steaming a dark roast for him.

why am I imagining this tasting like plastic?

Hellaaaaaaaaa late to the party, but I would steam the cold water and base once they're together. I probably wouldn't even let it steam to 130°, but yes, I'd be worried about how the base would be affected by the steam or how the steam wand would be affected by the base.
