Trans partner here who just ordered a pronoun pin but scared of how customers will react to me. Would like to hear stories and tips from other trans partners out there!

I was wearing one for a while before it fell off and I lost it. Most people started using the correct ones or avoided pronouns entirely but a handful of cis men would still deliberately call me sir

ive only had one weird reaction from my she/her pin since i started in like may or so which was actually today, some old dude asked me what “she her” means and made me super uncomfortable. usually ppl are fine to me but i still get misgendered on occasion. if customers are consistently rude about it, that’s something you can talk to your shift about it, and if other partners misgender you thats absolutely something to talk to a shift about. hope that helps :)

The old dude asked because he's not familiar with genders. Could have possibly not meant to offend of make you uncomfortable. Especially those who don't keep up with news and the changing of times

i have a GLSEN pronoun pin on my apron, a sbucks pin in my hat, and my name tag is done in the trans flag colors. i’ve been at my store for four months now and so far i haven’t had any bad reactions as far as i can remember! i’m also in a medium-ish city in a rural state, if that’s extra comforting. the worst that’s happened is Extra Liberal Allies™️ giving me a Look i can tell means they’re trying to figure out how to show they Support The Cause and/or ask about my genitals. i don’t know your identity but i’m a currently non-passing trans man.

Same I’m a currently non passing trans male in a southern state but my store isn’t in a small town I’m just worried with living in the south I haven’t found a lot of accepting people. I ordered a pronoun pin for my apron and hoping that will help with everything. Thank you!

yeah, i’m in the southeast so i definitely get it. i was lucky enough that my store is Super Gay and all of the partners are really accepting, so it makes getting misgendered by customers all the time a little easier. best of luck, and i hope you find a good group of accepting people (if you ever want to talk to another trans guy in the biz feel free to message me!)

In my experience maybe 5-10% of people even notice.

I’m just hoping it’ll help with the customers
