quick question. how many of you guys are still writing codes directly on your cups? I feel like my store is the only store around that still does it. we don’t have labels. i’ve been going around to a bunch of stores to see if they do it too but so far it’s just us. maybe it’s just more uncommon here (Buffalo NY)? or it’s super outdated and my store needs to get with the times? i’m seriously very curious about this.

We only write cups if our sticker machine is down, but I think licensed stores write cups

Still hand writing everything! In the UK only stores with mobile orders have them here I think at the moment 🙄 but then we don’t have the ingredients (recipe) on the POS either, rather curious if we’ll ever get that system lol

im in cali and i havent seen any stores that write on cups, and im one of the few baristas in my store who can even read the abbreviations

Hey fellow Buffalo barista!!! I’m a Del Ken partner and I have yet to see any stores up here (or anywhere) that still writes on cups (I think I know based off of that which one you work at) it’s just you guys. Maybe your manager has a reason for not wanting a sticker machine? I would ask

ok, I literally JUST got home from going to your store. small world haha. but yeah i’ve asked before and never really got a direct answer. we are a licensed store in a hotel so that could have something to do with it, but doesn’t the licensed store in target by you guys use labels? so I don’t think it’s just a licensed/corporate thing. I guess it’s just up to the managers on whether they want to use one or not.

There’s your answer! I was on that boat too for a while and my old store (licensed in hotel) still writes on cups! This makes me one of three partners at my current corp store that can read hand-codes. Mostly it has to do with your POS system not being compatible with the printer software (you can charge to rooms and such I’m guessing).

My store does not write on cups. The only store I’ve seen that has that (I think?) is corporate is the one at the mall in Portland, Maine.

Reddit is a small world sometimes, yes the tarbucks has stickers so it must just be your store manager/higher ups. Good luck !

Hand writing in training and my current kiosk. Not very hard to remember stuff. But also since we’re a small area you can just ask whoever is on POS what it is, so sometimes we don’t write anything since we here the order on bar because it is so close.
