A question about benefits. (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by Throwawaykitkat3202
Just finished an interview yesterday at Starbucks and I should know by Monday if I have the job.

I have a question about benefits. I know you need 240 over a 3 month period to become eligible, but do you have to wait a year for health insurance anyway due to the enrollment period?

New Hire eligibility allows you to enroll after 3 full consecutive months (1st to last day of month) of working a total of 240 hours. Regardless if it's enrollment period or not.

So your period should start the next 1st of the month. If you work September, October, and November, you should be elegible to enroll by Dec 1st if you start before Sept 1st. And your benefits would begin on January 1st.

Thank you so so much! I hope I’m hired! It would be a weight off my shoulders for sure. :)

No, they do an assessment at the end of every quarter, and if you’re eligible, you get an email. If or some reason you don’t receive one, but know you’re eligible, call PCC(partner contact centre). I’ve had issues in the past with partners not properly filling in their info and having to call. The August enrollment is a time where the benefits may change, or you may wish to change your coverage, and everyone has to re-enroll.

Okay, thank you! I work part time at a grocery store as well and getting benefits there has proven to be nearly impossible. (You need 1500 hours by New Years Eve or it resets back to 0 and you have to start all over again.) Just wanted to make sure I read Starbucks policy correctly. :)
