Quitting in 9 days (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by Solarbyte
I finally quit in 9 days after five years of working at Starbucks. It doesn’t feel real and I’m excited to do something different as my passion/patience has long fizzled out but at the same time... I feel oddly sad! It wasn’t a great job and upper management has been dreadful but I feel like I learnt more emotionally through my five years there than I did in school.

I made amazing connections and found family there twice and I’ll miss the nicer regulars. It was so incredibly stressful at times but also rewarding, bonding with your coworkers through happy hour and stupid staffing choices. Does anyone else here have a weird bittersweet feeling thinking about Starbucks? Just kind of rambling now.

"Learning Emotionally" it's the greatest thing ive done here. Having to be face to face with new and old daily. Have to train new barista in a constant spin. Trying to also getting to maintain a positive relationship with these people, where both uppity and them benefit socially fron the situation. It's been hard to think about separation. This job brings me joy, it is exciting when we don't want it to be, it pushes some of us past our limits. And thats okay (I feel like some of us need to be told that sometimes).

But learning from these experiences has definitely made me. Me, me. A better person. I feel you and I'm trying to resonate in the most understanding way possible.
