my manager is awful. there’s no way around that. i’m still fairly new and never had proper training, i was just thrown out there and learned thingd quickly because i really need this job but i feel like im losing my mind. is it normal to be a new hire and not have somebody actually train with you, and shortly later being asked by your manager to train other new hires or is it just me? also if i’m not mistaken, people who are certified to train others get paid a little extra? i love the job but the management is so awful and messy not to mention also dealing with disrespectful and aggressive customers. i just recently got out of an abusive household and im blessed to have this job but i feel like i might tell my manager off by accident lol /:

Yes it’s normal to not be trained, but it’s not about knowing what to do, it’s about being able to work with your coworkers.

They’re changing how the floors are going to be run soon, so it’s maybe a blessing that you aren’t being taught an obsolete system.

im a quick learner and i’m thankful for that but i’ve noticed they’re overworking me and it’s a few people who’ve been partners for literal years and all they know is POS or DT and you would think as a manager, a new person isn’t going to know how to do all this extra stuff you’re asking for especially since you never trained for that. there’s also alot of messy drama in this store and they’ll load all their tasks on you but when you ask for guidance bitches wanna huff and puff. i’m young and i know it’s apart of life but it’s ridiculous. and quite unprofessional so i might have to slide HR.

HAHA you just described my last three years to a T.

I’ve learned that knowing your job makes it easier to stop people from spreading their anxiety to you. Only during peak does it really matter that roles stay planted, but I think that’s changing.

It’s a team oriented store. Teams are called teams because they don’t always work together well, they’re called teams because they’re together.

Learn to “be a part of that team”.

This means you are making sure that you don’t enable laziness ;) *wink*

I refuse to step outside my role because being a hard worker can also mean you are directly responsible for allowing people to be lazy.

You can let them be bad at their job.

period.. all my manager cares about is drive thru times and sucking the life out of the environment and half of the shift leaders want to play manager and stay on their phones. i wanted to quit so bad but i’m not, not only because i need it but i just feel like a milestone in life was hit and lessons were learned lmaooooo i’m not playing with these partners no more

Show up early, work hard, do your job.

When they threaten to write you up, be like hell yes let’s document this!

I don't understand how some people are trained and some aren't. It blows my mind! You should DEFINITELY be trained. They should not be putting you on the floor without training! That's crazy. How else are you supposed to know what to do?

I would suggest transferring or talking to the SM about training. Lol if you haven't been trained, how can you train anyone else?

Also, congrats on getting out of an abusive household! You're amazing. :)

I don't think it's normal to not be trained but I suppose that depends on your manager, as it would be their job to write training into the schedule. Every new partner that comes into my store gets at least 4 or 5 days of training. I'm a certified trainer and as far as I know I'm still making the same hourly rate I was before.

Literally the same thing is happening to me! The shift supervisors said it is my responsibility to ask for training (that they haven’t or will give to me) and has nothing to do with the manager and/or supervisors... like isn’t it their job to keep on top of my training? I barely know how to make any drinks and I have certification tomorrow...
