Shelby mobile orders a triple espresso on ice with 6 pumps white mocha in a venti cup.
When she picks up her mobile order she asks whoever’s on bar (today it was me) for the skim milk and fills the venti cup to the top.
Today was my first encounter with Shelby and I’ve always been told that when customers try and “finesse the system” like this to politely let them know that it’s not right and next time they should order the correct drink — in this case it would be a nonfat iced mocha latte without whip. Today I explained this to Shelby and she bitched me out in front of the whole store about how she can do whatever she wants and I can’t do shit.
When I told my manager about this, my manager said that she’s been allowing Shelby to do this for some time now and that I should just give Shelby what she wants. I’m not the only barista that had met Shelby’s wrath but my manager said that there isn’t a “Starbucks standard” for this issue and there isn’t anything about it in any manuals, so we should just let it go.
Idk I feel kind of let down by my store for not defending me or defending the other customers that pay $3 more for the same drink Shelby gets.
Is my manager right? Should I just start filling Shelby’s cup for her?

Give her the non fat in a short cup filled 2/3rds, that should be about four ounces and if she wants more she can pay for it.

Similar story, had a customer come in and order a doppio on ice and asked for coconut milk in it. I asked “how much coconut milk?” and she told me to fill the cup to the top so I charged her for that and she completely bitched me out. She continued to come into my store and after three encounters where I charged her she called me a bitch and the devil and even called corporate right in front of my manager and I. She still continues to come into my store and of course I’m there every time and she gets decaf-ed. People who try to finesse the system, then get pissed that you call them out on being a shitty person do not deserve caffeine.

Yoooo that sucks. Your manager should be the one Shelby has fill her cup of thats the case cuz it would not fly if you worked at a different store. Manager also should explain to Shelby that Princess Requests are not standard and you were just doing your job by reminding her she's being cheap.
It for sure is taking advantage of the rest of your customers who are paying for exactly what the want

What I do is put the pumps and shots in, then top the cup off with ice. Melt as much as it can, add more ice, then top it. Usually that leaves only maybe an inch of space to the top of air between the ice that can be filled with non/dairy if they so choose.
