My last stressful/frustrating weeks at Starbucks (self.starbucksbaristas)

Fair warning. This is a long story and I apologize in advance for any grammar or spelling issues.

This story happened during February of this year and I just wanted to share my experiences as a barista. While working at Starbucks, I picked up a second job to get more stable income. I work Starbucks in the morning and I work at a grocery store at night. At some point, our manager hired a new ASM and she took over the schedule and completely messed it up.

We were shorthanded constantly on weekends. Especially Sunday when we're slammed with church crowds and that's the day that she constantly scheduled me for. 3 man crew during the morning and mid shifts. I was running drive-thru, cold bar and some front end. The other barista worked hot-bar while the shift did hot-foods and mainly handled front-end. After roughly 2 months of us being short handed during that time, I had panic attack at the drive-thru. I could barely breathe, my chest was hurting, left arm was tingling and I couldn't stop crying. I only 29 and this had never happened before. I was terrified. My shift pulls me from drive-thru and sends me to the back. Trying to get me to drink water and to start breathing again.

I never cried so much in my life. The shift goes back out during the rush and God bless both her and the other barista. They handled that rush while coming back constantly to make sure that I'm okay. My friend who also works there gets a call from the shift and he came as soon as he could to tag me out. After taking two days off from both jobs, I go back to work and everything was fine until the following Sunday when it happened again.

I put in my two weeks notice a few days later. I couldn't risk this job killing me. I gave my notice to the shift on duty and on my next shift, I saw that it was placed in the availability folder. The following two weeks went by easily enough. I even spoke with the store manager about me leaving and she was aware of my last day there. My last day finally comes. I said my goodbyes and I thanked the crew for being there for me and the great times we had. It was a closing shift because I was off at the night job and I ended my evening shaking the hand of my trainer.

The following morning, I get a text from the store manager about coming in to work. I told her that my last day was last night as written in my notice. She says that she knows but since the schedule is made 3 weeks in advance, it was my job to have the shifts covered. I was taken back. Really? You want me to find people to cover shifts after my last day of work. I look at the schedule and I saw that they only had my friend and a high-schooler working that night. I couldn't screw them over like that so I agree to work just the one night. I come in. Everyone was asking why I'm here. I told them what happened and they couldn't believe it. So I worked that night and it was rather slow. Our clock in computer had been acting up for a while so I wrote my time in on our log.

Here's the frustrating part. The following day, they removed me from the system without adding my additional hours. That's right. That happened. I notice that my pay was short and I texted my former boss about it. She got back to me in a few days letting me know that I was removed from the system so that's why I didnt recieve my full pay. The amount of anger in my soul. I swore I had to ability to slap the soul out of her. Send her the shadow dimension but I just remained calm during the exchange. It took them two months to add me back in the system to deposit my money. The company sent out a survey about my experience working there and I decided to put this entire story in their survey.

A few weeks later, I got a $5 gift card for Amazon from the company.

TLDR; Due to exhaustion and poor scheduling, I had a mild stroke and a panic attack in the same week while working due to stress. I put in a two week notice. Boss guilts me into working past my two weeks notice because it was my responsibility apparently. Boss failed to pay me for it until 2 months after I left.

Just to let y'all know, former boss no longer works there as of last month

I am an adult. The person who was closing that night was a good friend of mine. I didnt wanna screw him over due to my crappy boss.
