Grande Rant (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by fairygames34
So I've been working at Starbucks for almost a year now. I do my absolute best to show up to work with a positive attitude, greet customers with a smile, and make sure their order is the way they want it to be.

Despite /everyone's/ best efforts to do exactly that, customers will ALWAYS find something to complain about.

Just the last two days of work:

A woman argued with me about the cake pop I rang her up for but she didn't get, and I had to explain that I did not ring her up for it but I would gladly do that for her. She rolled her eyes, said "unbelievable" and paid for the cake pop.

Another woman argued with me about a tall vanilla milk she ordered with her Frappuccino, and I had to inform her that she told me she wanted to Frappuccino INSTEAD of the vanilla milk, but I would ring her up for the milk if she still wanted it.

Another yelled at me about how much ice was "less ice", and took my question about if she wanted it remade as talking back.

Another screamed at me when I tried explaining that her spilled coffee would be free and not to worry about, telling me "just take the money, I don't want any unnecessary drama".

Like......we really can't do anything right can we y'all.

Starbucks coffee is expensive but at least they get to emotionally abuse their baristas, amirite? 🙃

But, solidarity, friend. I’m having one of those weeks at my location too. May the Siren grant favor on us all.

Yesterday I got yelled at over my barista making her a grande cup of ice and she NEEDED a venti cup of ice. We are apparently just so ridiculous.

I can't with these entitled-ass customers.

I wouldve told her she has to go back in line so we can ring it up and not waste plastic cups 😂 i do that to people who are demanding

This one college student came in this morning for her mobile order and we didn’t have a receipt for it so I asked “Did you accidentally send it to the other store?” And she’s like “no? I don’t have my phone right now so I can’t check” then I say “well we didn’t your order” she then went “WHATEVER IM LATE TO SCHOOL ANYWAYS” And slammed our front door super hard. The customer behind her went “she needs to be taught some manors”. Yeah people are psychopaths

People try to scam free drinks all the time at licensed stores... Saying their app isn't loading and acting flustered but not stepping out of line to get their shit together, trying to wait until we get exasperated enough, or claim they "should" have money on their card because they just reloaded when it's clearly empty (and there is no way I will just give them money on their words alone)... Or they say their birthday reward wasn't used yet when it clearly has been redeemed.

Assume the best 🙄 wastes so much of my time and tests my patience. I usually just smile and tell them to take their time while they figure it out, until they find a way to use a valid payment method, or give up and leave.

Today a lady told me (a supervisor) she didn't like how the barista on till talked to her. I was literally next to her the whole time and she did everything she's expected to and very politely. I can't help if you decide that you want to be offended. She decided she was going to call corporate to complain. She doesn't want compensation, but just to ruin someone's day apparently.

Try not to let them make you feel bad! You’ll get super stressed out! I usually picture a light switch and turn it off to let it go. And think about fun things like what you want to eat later! :)

You really gotta believe in Karma or something to get through a day as a barista.

What the fuck does “talking back” even mean? It always seemed to me to just be a complaint certain adults make because they feel entitled to complain and yell without interruption until they run out of things to say

I praise god every day for those few really nice regulars who always come in with a smile and ask how we are. They help me get through my day and deal with the nasty entitled ones...

today a lady tried to argue with me because i “wasn’t doing full pumps” on her chai tea latte.. also the same lady who got mad because she couldn’t use her birthday reward when her birthday is a month away but i’m wrong because “they do it all the time at this other store”

I swear, ya'll have some of the most entitled and rude customers out there. My heart goes out to ya'll.

Do your best to have a life outside of work. I have a friend how’s been in management positions since high school. I think he’s barely 30 and I recently found out he a stroke and a whole bunch of stress related issue. Take care of yourself everyone!
