Weird things from my last shift? (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by galaxyd1ngo
So I've been around for like a month.

I was on bar and got a sticker for a caramel ribbon crunch and all it said was decaf. I assumed this meant they wanted it to be cream based, so that's how I made it. The woman rudely waved it around and asked why it was like that. I explained that the color was lighter because the coffee base makes it darker, she asked why I used cream base. I told her because I thought she wanted it decaf? And she got mad at me because she wanted a shot instead of the roast. Should the drink have been rung up differently, or was it correct and I just misinterpreted it?

Also my shift took his lunch and last ten and left me all alone on the floor both times, and on his ten he straight up left the building with a friend and I was literally alone in the building. Is like... that allowed.

You misinterpreted what she wanted. Decaf means they want a decaf shot instead of frap roast. It still gets the coffee flavor pump tho.

Ok thanks for that clarification! No one explained that's how it show up and I expected it would have said "single" or something : (

Sorry to hear about the lapse in your training. <3 Hang in there! There are lots of small, tricky details like that, but you’ll discover them all in time!

The standard for decaf Frappuccinos is:

Tall - one decaf shot
Grande - two decaf shots
Venti - three decaf shots

This is a substitution for the Frap Roast, and, as such, requires no additional charge.

It’s *not standard, but I sometimes add a bit of extra ice. The espresso shots are hot when pulled, so the decaf Frappuccinos tend to be slightly on the runny side.

Reiterating on what was mentioned before, this is an opportune time to utilize clarifying questions to ensure you know what the customer is actually attempting to order. Haha.

“Would you like decaf espresso in that or would you prefer a cream based Frappuccino without the coffee flavor?”

A final note!
You will still use the coffee base/emulsifier for a Frappuccino with decaf espresso—not the cream base.
Frappuccino Roast contains caffeine, the “Coffee Flavored Syrup” does not.

There always has to be 2 people in the building at all times which is why if you're a 2 person floor you get paid for your half.

Partners (SSV) have been fired for leaving a barista alone.

Wait... Are there stores small enough that there only needs to be two partners in the store??
