this woman that comes in every so often orders a coffee frap with 14 stevia and 14 pumps of sugar free vanilla but constantly switches from heavy cream to non fat, sometimes wants whip and sometimes not, asks if a shot can go in the frap but never actually says if she wants it or not, the list goes on. yes, she comes in some what frequently but never has a consistent order. she gets frustrated about something every single time she comes in and has something to complain and yell about. she yells how she’s always here and we always mess up or not know her order??? the only thing that’s consistent is the 14 stevia and 14 pumps it’s kind of not our fault for not reading your mind what else you want to change that day?
there’s also a man that comes in often but gets very upset when someone doesn’t know his order or when we ask to make sure it’s right. almost every other time i see him in, he asks me if i’m new even if i don’t ask him his order. i’m not very new anymore but when i first started i worked the same shift every day and i never saw him in until i have been there for about two months, i’m not sure if he just didn’t come in during that time or he wasn’t a regular yet but he was very offended the first day i saw him and i didn’t know his drink. one day he actually refused to give us his order and that everyone knew it. none of us were new, just didn’t know his order lol the girl who took his “order” normally works nights so she was really lost and i at the time still had no idea who he was. i almost want to still ask for his order every once in a while just because (i’m not going to but i realllly want to sometimes to just be petty)
shout out to all of the other regulars that make our days and treat us well, you’re very appreciated. rant over. for now

I was working bar on a Sunday after months of being off Sundays and an old regular I recognized (and had seen every weekend for years) told the girl on front register that she didn't recognize me and didn't trust I'd make her drink correctly if I was new.
Bitch, I was the one that suggested this drink to you 2 years ago!

On my very first shift, i took this mans order and when I asked for his name his face just went sour. He started yelling “it PISSES me off that I come here EVERYDAY and you don’t know my name”
I literally just looked at him and said sir, it’s my first day, I don’t know who you are.
He continued to complain and complain and in the end I just wrote NO NAME on his cup.
Since then, I also noticed that he isn’t a regular who comes in every day, it’s more like once every 2 weeks 🙄
entitled as hell.. grow up

One time I had a customer bitching at me because I didn't remember his name. I covered up my name tag and asked him if he knew my name. Shut him up real quick.

Noted, I will definitely do this if another customer tries this lol

I have a “regular” who places mobile orders. Somehow, according to her, we ALWAYS forget to do her order. Even when we are slow, we have no mobile orders coming through but she insists that she places the order. We ask her for the receipt on her phone but she shows us past orders placed but she tries to play it off. She’ll leave and come back two hours later playing the same old song. It gets annoying after awhile.

How desperate are some folks to scam a drink? How embarrassing...

had a regular yell at a green bean last week because it was his first day off training and he didn’t know the customer’s drink order. I don’t understand how people can be so entitled to believe that everyone must know your order. On the flip side though I have customers whose complicated orders I remember and they get so excited about it.

it really grates on me when people expect us to remember their regular order and feel entitled to it. like yes, if you come in often enough i probably will remember your order and if its quiet i will begin making it when i see you. but don’t just come to the counter and ask for ‘the usual’ and expect that everyone will know you have a grande one shot americano with three sweetners and 1/3 steamed almond milk, sometimes decaf sometimes not. it’s not your right.

Had a regular have an absolute meltdown over something similar. She constantly rotates between about 4 drinks (one of which is a grande flat white with a dozen raw sugars) and blew up at a green bean because she double checked her order. Lady. We ask every time too.

I had a regular come in, look me in the eye and say "oh! You must be new 🙃" and I had to inform them that NO, I'm NOT, and that I actually took their order yesterday. They didn't believe me and insisted that I must be new?? A lot of customers really don't actually see us as people, but as their personal coffee robots who they can yell at and belittle and be extremely rude to. Sure, there's a nice customer every once in a while, but man........I'm sick of the shit we have to go through.

I still have customers assume I’m new because I work random shifts even though I know their name and drink and I’ve been here almost 10 years. They don’t pay attention. We are coffee robots to some of them. I really appreciate the regulars who remember me and conversations we’ve had and make me feel like the connection goes both ways, basically who make me feel like a person. It’s not you, it’s them.
