When a boomer gets angry that their pour over took 6 minutes to make in rush hour, despite the fact she saw us start it immediately after she ordered it. (Maybe the single worst thing I've ever created but I love it) (i.redd.it)

I can't tell if these people even want quality coffee
[deleted] 12 points 3y ago
They do not. It's about the gram.
bigmike450 [OP] 7 points 3y ago
Do boomers care about their gram?
[deleted] 10 points 3y ago
We have quite a few who gram their drinks. Got chewed out my first week for accidentally stickering our logo by one, Lisa.

A MIDDLE AGED LADY JUST COMPLAINED AB THIS TO ME A FEW HOURS AGO
bigmike450 [OP] 10 points 3y ago
Also, they definitely don't. You could give them a pike pour-over and a standard brewed Pike and they would never be able to tell which is which.
submitizenkane 10 points 3y ago
yeah, and then they come back from the condiment bar after dumping an entire carafe of half and half into their coffee to let you know “it’s not hot”
Charimia 5 points 3y ago
I know right? Someone in my first week came over to ask for a new cup of coffee because “it’s not hot,” I took the lid off of his to pour it out and it was still steaming... not to mention it had to be hot because I’d made it less than 10 minutes before.

A lady got mad at me because she squeezed her cup and iced coffee got on her hand. Like??? You did that???

"BeCausE ItS tO FulL"
As they squeeze on the cup or press on the lid with napkins.

They get mad when it’s “too full” but complain when it’s “not filled all the way” like bruh which is it damn

Just wondering, how do you make pour-overs? Do you pour all the water in at once?

Edit: Why am I being downvoted? I’m asking OP how they make a pour-over.
AaronF18 15 points 3y ago
No you have to soak the grounds, wait for it to bloom, and then slowly pour in the rest. Ask someone else to show you how if you don’t know because it’s much easier to learn by watching
SuperficiallyTrivial 3 points 3y ago
I know how to do it, I’m asking OP how they make theirs.
AaronF18 7 points 3y ago
Ah ok I see now. Btw I wasn’t the one who downvoted you
SuperficiallyTrivial 7 points 3y ago
That’s okay. I was making pour-overs wrong for a while until someone showed me how to pour it slowly, and it actually gets made much quicker that way
bigmike450 [OP] 13 points 3y ago
No I don't pour it in all at once, I'm not a monster
bigmike450 [OP] 10 points 3y ago
Pour in, wait for bloom, pour the rest pretty much.

Preparation is pretty standart our PO are similiar to melita so they have restricted flow rate of the water. For every size there is set grams(dont remember numbers since i do not think this is how u make good PO), but the problem is that grind setting is the same, so if u do like Venti PO its overextracting like a hell. And the grind setting is always 5 and thats too fine even for tall.
So he hit 6mins bcs tgey taught him, but the coffe must be pretty bad. Its rare that ppl at this company know that target time should be around 2:30-3:30.
classicalyouth 8 points 3y ago
They see people moving in and put within those minutes, she probably thinks time is moving faster than it is
linagarcia17 3 points 3y ago
100% relatable!!
cardawbal 3 points 3y ago
They call it slow drip for a reason. People are the worst.
JCBaker22 2 points 3y ago
What’s a boomer? I hate pour overs especially when they want them through drive thru 🤦🏼‍♀️
bigmike450 [OP] 5 points 3y ago
A boomer is a slang term for a baby boomer
