This is no joke and is something I would only read about on Internet forums or reddit. Quite literally I used to doubt many claims until this morning. I am posting anonymously and refraining from any identifying details due to obvious reasons... with that lets begin.

Walk into my local starbucks and order my usual, 4 shots on ice, in a tall cup, light ice. I get my shots and forgot to ask for a water as well. I go to the drink pick up station and say to the barista,

“Hey babe can I get a water? I forgot to ask.”

Behind me I hear an audible scoff of disgust from a woman roughly 4 feet behind me. I receive me water and say “thanks babe.”

At this point I hear the same woman say something like, “are you serious?”

We shall now refer to this woman as Karen.

Karen then approaches me and begins to state, “I cannot believe you think it’s okay as a man to speak to a woman like that, objectifying her especially as she is working and unable to properly say anything without risking her job!”

Stunned, I couldn’t believe the situation I was in.

Karen: “this just goes to show you that men have not learned anything despite the work many women have put in to end such patriarchal behaviors”

(I put quotes around this but it is a slight compression of what she said)

My response: “miss I guess the next time I speak to my wife of 9 years, I will be sure to refrain from using babe.”

Karen: “what?”

Me: “yes that is my wife of 9 years, like actually married.”

This is where you would think Karen would backpedal and apologize correct? Nope.

Karen: “well I don’t see a ring on your hands, where’s your ring?”

Me: “she doesn’t wear it while she’s working and I’m on my way to the gym so I leave it off while I’m working out and I shouldn’t have to explain my behaviors or my wife’a to you eith-“

Karen: “YOUR wife? Like you own her? Like she’s just yours???!”

Me: “uh what?”

By this time my wife realizes that this is actually becoming a problem and she walks up and asks if there is a problem here.

Karen: “I can’t believe you would ever let him talk to you in such a way, why you would ever marry someone like that is beyond me!”

Wife: “well how do you talk to your husband?”

Karen: “I don’t have a husband!”

(Wife now issues a WWE smack down that just reaffirms I made the right choice in marrying her.)

Wife: “Yeah, no s***, I wonder why? Please get out.”

Karen: “I will be contacting your corporate office about this!”

Wife: “I’ll give you their number.”

I understand how looney this all sounds and how scripted as well but believe me I DIDNT THINK THESE THINGS ACTUALLY HAPPENED TO PEOPLE! Have a good day y’all.
