Calling out policy — what is the policy about calling out? If you call out on the day of your shift...an hour or even just a few minutes before you’re scheduled? What happens? Is there a limit on how many times you can call out in a month or a week? (self.starbucksbaristas)

Also what if you don’t call at all. What if you just don’t show up for your shift?

You will want to always call... that’s just rude not too but that would be marked as a no call no show. You could possibly get written up. People who have called off a lot aren’t favorites as co workers and you are letting your team down. So I advice you doing it only for emergency’s and if you are really sick. If your sick your sick. You shouldn’t be there but you should do your best to find coverage your self and if you can’t find coverage call your store manager for help.

Thank you. That’s exactly what I have always thought was the right thing to do. I’ve worked for Sbux for almost 3 years. I have only called out once. I called at 5am for my 4pm shift. I asked if they wanted me to find someone to cover but they said it was ok, they would find someone.
I posted because the store I’m working at has had several people who have called out and also NC/NS with no corrective actions. When someone doesn’t even call, we usually cover their future shifts....thinking it was their (rude) way to quit. The SM has actually given them their shifts back! It’s very frustrating and the team is developing an awful attitude. 😞

Damn sounds like my old store. In 6 years I have called off twice. Literally twice. I have worked with hundreds of people who literally call off all the time. It’s frustrating. It is VERY hard to get fired at Starbucks. I’m sorry your dealing with this. Starbucks already cuts hours so they see partial of it being oh well the staff will just have to work triple hard as what they are already doing. I think that’s why it’s a slap on the wrist. Good for you for plenty of time. Keep up the good work. For the rest of your store karma is a bitch. Lol

Its pretty customary to give as much notice as possible if you have to call out sick. The more notice the more likely someone will be able to cover you. Your store is scheduled with your presence in mind so if it's too late to find coverage it could really effect your coworkers and the store in general if you are a closer or an opener. Just be kind to the people you work with and give lots of notice, only call in if you really have to and if you feel like you're working too much and want less hours, instead of frequently calling in and hurting your store just talk to your manager about it and work out a schedule that feels better for you.

Thank you. It’s not me. It’s several other people who work at the store I work at.
