Today someone called out so I was alone on bar during peak. One customer who had just mobile ordered said that if her triple shot americano isn’t ready in the next thirty seconds to just forget about it. Then another mobile order customer told her, “You know you have to wait in line, they’re busy.”(self.starbucksbaristas)

I was having a tough day but I wanted to hug/cry at that moment because it was one of the nicest things a customer has ever done.

I love those kind of customers. At my store we call them Kim’s cause we had this one customer who was always so patient with us we knew her order the name of her dog and when some white bitch would get mad cause her sugar free latte wasn’t ready she would be like uhhh obviously you don’t see the line chill. It would make me laugh Cause they would get mad cause they were just being rude .

That happens to me all the time. Alot of callouts and i am alone on bar during peak. Coming from a high volume store, I am not afriad to talk back. I've done it so many times. I always respond the accordingly the way they do to me. My go-to phases "Yeah, you're not the only one that is waiting!" Or "Other people order ahead that's why." There was this one time a customer got so mad and says I am taking so long my response " WELL we are definitely hiring and if you think you can do a better job I strongly encourage to apply at starbucks.com/carrers. Be a part of something bigger!"

Smile and say “I’ve got a few drinks ahead of yours so, okay consider it forgotten. Have a nice day, sorry about that”. When in high stress situations we can either cave to the stress or roll with the punches, don’t let assholes put more pressure on you than you already do yourself. Do the best you can and be satisfied with that, Hopefully you have a supportive team.

Wow. I hope I can get on your level some day. I’m in the middle of my fourth week and don’t know how to deal with shitty customers yet >.<
My manager has actually pulled me aside and said, “don’t let customers bully you!”
Thank you!

Definitely don’t let them bully you! It took me a while to grow my thick siren skin, same will happen to you. My favourite come back when they’re demanding their drinks/food is “Ive only got two hands” or “darn left my extra set of hands at home.” If you say it with a smile it takes them a second to realize what you’re saying haha

Oh haha. Most customers don’t get me down. I know it’s just the job. But apparently since I’m happy to do whatever they tell me.... I seem like a fucking idiot. Lol.

today someone got handed his drink and an i’m-sorry-for-the-wait and went “i know you’re busy but REALLY?” and my shift went “yes sir, again, i am sorry for your wait but our manager called out sick today only one espresso machine works but we’re doing the best we can with the 20 or 30 customers in line so if you’d like to complain you are fully free to do so.” he went, “no i don’t like to complain i’m just saying.” PUNK ASS.
