Green Bean starting tomorrow- dress code questions (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by chrltsweb
Hey y’all! I have my first day tomorrow morning. I went in today to do my onboarding for an hour and I was asked to work a full day tomorrow. I wasn’t expecting to come in the next day so I’m not sure if I have things that I can wear to tide me over until I’m able to go buy some compliant clothing.
I thought I had a good shirt to wear but my manager told me it was a t-shirt and I really didn’t think it was one. Defining if a shirt is a t shirt is so freaking vague, it looked like a scoop neck shirt to me!
I have something else that may work if anyone is willing to have me send them a picture of it?
Also, are Doc Martins an okay shoe choice or should I stick to my sneakers?

If you Google "Starbucks dress code" the Lookbook will pop up and thats our dress code :)

I looked through it and it allows for so much gray area!! Oh well, I’m sure I won’t get in trouble for it on my very first day if it’s a small mistake.

also I think Doc Martin's are a great choice for work. your shoes will eventually get super dirty so be prepared for that lol and I usually stick to neutral colored, short sleeved shirts. they can be v-neck, button-up, and have a simple pattern (stripes, dots) I'm sure they won't make it a big deal, hope you have a great first day! :D

Thank you! V necks are allowed? I didn’t know that, that helps me a lot then lol

Yes, as long as they're not super low lol

I wear Docs, they’re really comfy which is good for long shifts and they’re slip-resistant. As for dress code, everyone at my store just wears dark/black jeans and a black shirt.

I also wear Docs, but (because my store has pretty strong ac) I always wear sweaters to work (no matter the heat). I don’t know if this is helpful because I am not very affected by temperature, but I have a bunch of gray sweaters that can’t be counted as T-shirt’s and are pretty easy to get stains out of, and also generally look nice. Also, I wear long sleeves as much as I can so I don’t get syrup and coffee stains on my arms...
