This is normal. The coconut milk always seperates from the mango dragonfruit over time. Especially if the drink has light ice.

This was how it looked right away when they passed it to me at the hand off place. I’ve only had it twice before, but always a grande with light ice and I never saw separation. 🤔
Thank you for sharing tho. I’m glad to know that this happens frequently. No more for me. I took two sips but was too squicked out by the texture to drink the rest. Good to know I’m not going to die from food poisoning, though!

Yeah honestly sometimes I make them and they seperate right away, and sometimes they hold together long enough to drink. I have no idea what exactly causes it to instantly seperate sometimes. Maybe temperature? I've noticed that making it with the standard amount of ice and extra coconut milk can help. And also shaking it longer. There seems to be a lot of factors haha. But definitely not rotten milk, so don't worry about getting sick!

Thank you for sharing. Great to know!
He didn’t shake it at all, which I thought was weird. But I didn’t say anything. I’ve worked cosmetic retail during gift with purchase so I know what it’s like to bombarded by hounds of cranky clients.

I knew that would be the reason. Only time I ever see separated refreshers is when they aren’t shaken. It annoys me when my coworkers do that, every refresher HAS to be shaken.

Also, I asked for light ice and extra DF inclusions, and there were 5 pieces. My cup said “ex mango incl” or something similiar. I asked the cashier if he had noted dragonfruit inclusions and he rolled his eyes.
I went during happy hour and tipped $3 as a thank you, even if he was kinda rude. They accidentally made two of the other drink that I ordered and gave them both to me so I felt too rude to say anything about this poor Dragon Fruit mess. Plus it was pretty bumpin in there so I didn’t want to mess up their flow during happy hour.
RIP extra inclusions, light ice and homogeneous drink textures.
Barista!! in the future: how can I politely and non-annoyingly ask for a remake? TY

Good to know about the cup vs shaker! I love the tangy slimey seedy-ness of the fruit tho!! 🤷🏼♀️

The exact way I feel about inclusions!!!! Also I’m sorry you had this experience. Every time I’ve made Dragon Drink it’s never done this. Is like my second favorite non coffee drink. Likely they didn’t shake the coconut milk before open tot which does weird things to nondairy milks throughout the container.

I used to work at a store that does that

Sometimes they're like that if the barista doesn't shake them and just pours the two liquids together

Looks like they didn’t shake the coconut milk, then didn’t shake your drink either.

This is normal. I usually like to make it by putting the coconut milk in first followed by the mango base because it separates less and looks more appealing.
