grande rant in a venti cup: got flirted with the other day (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by whatisasecretmenu
I'm a green bean (the greenest of the green beans). I had my first sip on the 15th of August.

I'm also 16 years old and the youngest barista at my store. I don't look old either. I look like I'm in high school and even possibly younger than 16, according to my friends.

On Wednesday, I had an early shift, and when I went on my break, I took off my apron and went to wait for my drink (we're not allowed to make our own partner bevs). And this 20 to 30 year old creep decided to stand next to me at the handoff counter, ask me like ten times if I worked here, very subtly show me his Facebook and proceeded to tell me about how he had "smoked a joint with Cole Sprouse" and shifted closer to me every time I shifted away.

So I was creeped out but like trying to be polite because he knew I worked there and I couldn't exactly go off on him while my shift was on the floor two metres away from me (or soI thought but it turns out she's a mama bear ❤️) . He also ended up prodding me in the rib as like a joke?? or something? To which I jumped immensely because I'm a somewhat skittish person so then he finally backed off a little.

But but but when I went into the back my shift told me that she'd stood there staring the whole time to make sure all went well and I realized that even though I'm young and a newbie they don't have animosity and they're actually all trying to protect me so that made me feel a lot better. So the rant is just about a creepy customer (and I said 20 to 30 but he was at least 25 honestly) and I really love all the shifts and baristas at my store. They've been really welcoming and even the shifts that are a little bit more direct have been so sweet and amazing when I've actually talked one on one with them

This happens A LOT at my store. when they repeatedly ask if i work there or something of the sort, my favorite response is, “yep! i’m so lucky to have a job that works with my school schedule. you know, being a sophomore in high school and all!”

that usually shuts them up.

So glad your shift is like a Mama Vear.
I hate it when customers are creepy like that.
