Hi guys! I'm a new green bean (started about a week ago) and I'm planning a move here in the next six months. *I wanted to see if anyone could share what their transfer process was like, any tips to make the process run smoother?*
Also! To any member of the barista family in **Seattle, Boston, or NYC**– *would you mind sharing what you make?*
I'm in South Texas and moving for college (I'm meant to be hearing back soon and will need to pick one of my colleges which are located in those) and my main concern is the cost of living– so I'm trying to figure out how feasible remaining with Starbucks would be. (South TX starts off at **$9.15/hr** and that's not enough for cost of living here, let alone of those cities I've mentioned above.)

i’m an SFM in boston making around $17.50/hr, though back in my barista days i recall it being somewhere around $13/hr, plus tips. depending on where you work in the city, tips can really add up!

I was going to get jealous then remember how damn expensive Boston is.

Thank you!!! Knowing that definitely helps me in terms of planning.

I haven’t transferred or anything and I started working 3 months ago. I’m a 17 year olf high school student working in a suburb of boston and I make $12.02/hr. Definitely on the low side, it’s not terrible though for my age

Okok that's not too bad! I assume it'd be more in Boston metro versus a Boston suburb?

I have a friend working as an SSV in central Boston who makes about $16 /hr. I’m guessing that for other Boston locations (and if you’re not a minor like me) you would probably make a solid $14/hr. Minimum wage is $12 for the entire state of MA

Ah, that definitely makes sense :) Thank you so much! I was hoping for about $14 so this definitely takes some of the pressure off.

Best of luck if you choose to come to Boston! It’s a great city and I’m sure you’ll enjoy it :-)
