Ouch. We call that the gum. Coffee or cream gum. At least at every store I have worked at. I have heard a lot of different ways of it being called tho. Lol what are other ways? We call it the gum because that’s what it’s called on the order. Or was like 6 years ago. Lol

I call it coffee or creme base but I have had alot of people get confused. Or just frappuccino base.
I don't even know any funny names for it 😂.

Lol i would know what you mean! It’s just funny how many names I have heard it be called lol. I am glad it healed! I have a lot of battle wounds from Starbucks. Smh lol

I have had a few scar scabs and scratches on my hands.
But my hands and arms also have cat scratches so between cats and starbucks I have true battle scars.
Nothing tops my second degree burn from subway on my arm. That was NASTY. I dropped a bread pan on my arm and THEN the floor.

Ouch!!!!! I had plastic surgery from a Starbucks accident. TWICE! Lol out on workman’s comp from burns on my hand, that were so bad I will never be able to bend my index finger again. That was from a bean being in the brewer head and it over filled and I pulled it out and the grounds went all over my hand. If it was just water it would of sucked for a few days but I was in shock and the grounds were on my hand soaked in the water which is what got me. I slowly walked to the garbage and threw it all in there. As my hand is being fried. The whole hand. I was out for a month. The pictures are disgusting. I can’t imagine that feeling all over my body. It amazes
Me people who are burn survivors! The other one was from a old menu board falling on me as someone hung it up and the plexiglass broke and was stuck in my arm. Those are the worst of the worst. The oven gave me about a finger sized burn my first week 6 years ago but the bad burn completely removed it from my hand. Haha smh fucking Starbucks. Double check no beans when you brew lol

I was cleaning a keg the other day and I had my finger in the top and I had it sideways as I was cleaned the sides in the sink. It was brand new and that sucker cut me deep af. I went through two bandaids until it stopped bleeding.

This is incredibly dystopian and I feel for you on a deep level

Just make sure to keep it cleaned out and bandaged. Dont forget though it will need to air out to scab over.
I hope it heals well!!

Well here's the kicker, it happened again 2 days later the first day myself and one of the others returned to work but it wasn't the stores alarm, she brought her own and thank God the police were in getting coffee when it went off because the shift tried to say he accidently "hit it" and our police are amazing and quickly said "no you were nowhere near it when it started to beep everyone evacuate now" and once again ER for MRI'S, blood, oxygen therapy etc and our levels came back higher than the first time. Honestly this partner and I both have really really bad anxiety, and it's no secret to anyone so neither of us felt well before it went off again, but when we spoke about it later we were both just too scared that people would think we were being dramatic or playing the victim so we didn't say anything. As for the leak, one day we were told a rat had died in the roof and that was the cause which we honestly and obviously did not even pretend to believe. Then we were told it was because we are on a busy Street, well we've been on that same busy Street for the last 6 years so again we dismissed that immediately and the last one we heard was the delivery truck must have kept the engine running and the c/o from engine floated across the parking lot (which is no short distance) into our store and somehow managed to get trapped despite the doors being opened several times before the alarm went off. Having said that to this day we have never found out the real cause but let's just say there's an empty space next to us and ppl had seen someone in there with an illegal generator but that was never proven.

Thata super crazy!! It shouldnt be ignored and Im glad someone brought their own alarm.
Im glad everyone is ok too. Its a weird story to tell for sure!!

Well I've got a pretty crazy incident (actually incidents) that happened to me and a few of my fellow openers....WE HAD CARBON MONOXIDE POISONING AND WERE TAKEN TO ER FOR 4 HOURS OF OXYGEN THERAPY, REGULAR BLOOD DRAWS, ARTERIAL BLOOD DRAWS (AWFUL), MRI'S, AND HEART MONITORING! My manager overrode the alarm 7 times (and you can't hear it from the back) and the 3 of us that were trying to get ready to open when we all 3 started feeling really bad, I felt light headed, blurred vision, felt detached from my body along with abdominal pain, another partner was vomiting and the third was complaining of having a sudden migraine and blurred vision and I remember walking towards her when my manager came out and said "we have to get out, the carbon monoxide alarm has been going off and I overrode it 7 times and it won't let me do it anymore". That's when in realized my one partner was looking as though she was about to faint and there were sirens blaring and we managed to get out right before she went down. The worst part is the alarm had been going off intermittently for the past week some ppl knew others didn't and the part that still has me reeling one year later, is my other partners were told to open the store again before we were even released from er that day because "fire Dept cleared store of having carbon monoxide"! WHY WERE THEY UNABLE TO GET A READING: The fire Dept called as they were on their way to tell us to open the door and keep it open and according to WedMD, Medicine Health, and every website as well as the staff at the hospital "Carbon monoxide gas dissipated in fresh air. If windows and doors open before a responder arrived, the same concentration of CO gas may no longer be present" that was from WebMD.

I hope everyone is ok!!! This is really scary. Did they find the leak and fix it?
Is everyone ok?

How fucked up is it that this is just a normal part of food service tho? The number of times I've burned myself... And for what, exactly?

I'm about ready to throw the damned towel in
myerselizabeth347 [OP] 1 points 3y ago
They think "Oh its just part of the job." but its just a reminder of the shitty job I had.
ImSean2121 2 points 3y ago
