I love how starbucks finds enough money to FLY out thousands of managers to Chicago but can't give a 7 year partner the wage they deserve after stepping down from being a shift of 5 years. I now make minimum wage :)))))))))))))))))

Starbucks has the money to have a starting wage above min. And then employees w tenure need to get paid more as well!!!!!!!

You’re manager can ask for better pay for you. You should speak to them about it.

I spoke to him about it before I stepped down and they said its in HR's hands after the demotion begins. its been over a month and I still have no answer as to why it hasn't changed yet.

Talk to your DM. Your manager has the ability to request a pay increase for his partners. Sounds like he’s just mad you stepped down, which is not okay.

You should demand better pay.

They have money for that but cant give us a decent raise lol.

With no barista experience, just customer service, I started a few dollars above minimum wage in my state. Sounds like some BS.

curious as to what state you live in??
boxinghamster16 1 points 3y ago
Wisconsin. I know our minimum wage is lower that other states but so is cost of living

I feel this as a high performing shift who does mostly all the ordering and peak planning every week I have been waiting for a performance based raise for awhile. I need to speak with my manager because if she won’t give me the time of day to help develop me because she needs me then I need to be paid for what I’m actually doing because NO other shift does what I do. So much that my manager will call me on my off days to double check the order with her when I’m not there. I love the work and I love my job but pay me for what I do!!!!

yup, I feel this on a spiritual level. I used to consistently help out at other stores, I would always come in and help out morning crew when someone called out ( I was a closer) and I would pretty much always be in OT every other week. and for what? nothing. I no longer got joy out of working my butt off to have just a pretty penny more for OT. The day I stepped down was after we had 3 partners call out on happy hour and my manager didn't show up to help and neither did any of the opening shifts.

What do you think you deserve? Sometimes what you think you deserve and what you actually deserve for the work you do doesn’t line up

I’m genuinely curious as what you think you deserve. You wanted less responsibility, so you got less pay. Is it unfair that you are making min wage as a 9 year partner? Absolutely. Should you be angry at Starbucks for paying their store managers (who have shown desire for more responsibility) for training instead of investing that money into you who wants less? Not so sure about that one.

Most of this is a marketing tactic conveniently paired with training. Before I started as a barista, I used to be in a marketing dept for a QSR and they did the same thing. But if you want to be angry at Starbucks, I’m not sure why you wouldn’t just leave. As far as I know, store managers can’t do much about wage since it depends on the market. But October and January are when we mainly get raises. So here’s to hoping!
