Cold brew at home (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by Mizzhunyb
Hi again, I posted a few weeks ago with questions about how to make starbucks iced coffee at home. I enjoy it so much but it's hurting the budget. But it's a little cup of heaven.

I've experimented and the easiest method is buying the cold brew pods and adding the suggested two pods with 4 cups of water.

Adding more water, brewing less time...I'm still unable to find that similar taste as if purchased in the store. It's very strong bordering on bitter.

Now I understand this may never be achievable but do you have any more tips?

In addition, reading about some of your customer experiences...I am so sorry you have to deal with people like that. It truly does break my heart. I love my baristas and while I may only interact with them briefly, they are the highlight of my mornings...and sometimes afternoons. 😁

This is going to sound like and investment, but hear me out. If you want the cold brew. Go online and buy a cold brew filter and a large pitcher. I have a reusable filter and it works great. You can pick and of the seasonal dark roast and some of the medium roasts, but if your looking for consistency I've found Yukon is most similar to our cold brew. You follow the proper 6oz of water to 2oz of coffee ratio to fill the container and filter you have. Leave it on your counter for a day or so set an alarm come back for it 20 hours later and take the coffee satchel out. Simply double the existing liquid with water or add water to taste then store in the fridge you have a large supply of cold brew this way. I find it handy on my days off when I need caffeine but don't feel like going to the trouble of brewing coffee for myself.

If you desire iced coffee simply pick a darker medium to dark roast coffee you like, right now the chiapas makes a great iced coffee. Brew twice the amount of coffee you would normally need with the same amount of water you usually use pout the liquid over equal part ice and viola iced coffee simply add more ice and whatever fixings you would normally put in your iced coffee and your good to go.

I also recommend you buy your cold brew like normal and when you have enough stars use it on a pound of coffee instead of a fancier drink. Or even buying the lbs of coffee will earn you stars towards free coffee.

I use Guatemala in a French press. I put twice the coffee in to make it double strength. Give it a stir and put the cover on. I leave it in the cupboard and wait 20-24 hours. Push the plunger down. I then put it in a mason jar and cut it with water. Its so good. If you have Casi Cielo, even better!!

i used to use a cheesecloth sack i got at the grocery store. you can buy them on amazon for like $4. they’re fabric and have a drawstring. and i just filled that up with coffee and popped that in a pitcher overnight. my favorite cold brew coffee is 8 o clock original tbh. tastes sweet and chocolatey. but if you wanna spend some cash order horse thief blend from prosum roasters in new mexico. WHEW that’s some good ass coffee.
