Absolutely it's okay to correct them nicely!
Also look in to getting pronoun pins too

Are your other partners and management supportive? Whether or not they'll have your back on the situation will probably impact how well it can go.

some of them are, some of them aren’t. I try to get along with all of them to make things less tense but i’ve decided that with my partners it just is what it is.

Much as I wish I could tell you you'd be in the right for correcting people (because i KNOW how that sucks), if they wanna be an a**hole and make up something just because you're trying to be you, if you management doesn't support you, they might not take your side.
altairbitch 1 points 3y ago
yeah, that’s a really good point

I feel your pain bro, I’m in Virginia and I get called ma’am on a daily basis. Luckily though my manager and all the partners there are extremely supportive. I also have really bad social anxiety so I get flustered and usually just walk away. I don’t like being embarrassed, as am sure most people don’t, and I’m always afraid of embarrassing people by correcting them.

Ugh gross, hate that for you man. What state?
altairbitch 1 points 3y ago
That’s why i’m scared to say anything, my state has no protection laws regarding employment so I could be fired for being trans and they wouldn’t even have to tell me why I was fired or report it.

Yeah i live in Oklahoma, so similar stuff applies. Good news is that while state law says that, starbucks policy is very different. I would suggest speaking with your SM, if you trust them, about solutions. Often times, doing a “barista pick” of the week, using a chalk board to showcase your favorite coffees, hobbies and reiterating your pronouns might help regulars to view you as a person instead of a coffee robot. That in turn can be infinitely helpful to mitigate being misgendered. Honestly when your regulars have it down, there’s a good chance passer-throughs will get it down too.
If you dont trust your sm enough to help, call the transgender advocate through prsc, and they might be able to help with solutions.
altairbitch 1 points 3y ago
this is a dumb question, what is PRSC?
ollieboy44 2 points 3y ago
No worries, its essentially just the partner contact center. (PCC i guess) 1-866-504-7368. Ask to speak with the transgender advocate
