Hi I'm working in a small kiosk inside the middle, busiest part of a mall. i've only been working for two months but i've already passed out at work twice due to a lack of food, water, and our location being too busy and way too hot. is there anyone out there who can relate to me at all or anyone who can lmk if there's anything g i can do to stop this? i'm only put on register and i'm usually alone so i have to deal with dozens of customers within an hour without a break for water or anything and it gets rough. what should i do to make it better? my old sm told me it's okay if i slide off from reg to drink some water, but he was probably our nicest sm, and his last day was on sunday (he's going to work at that high end 4-story starbucks in chicago i think?) so no that he's gone i'm scared my other sm's won't let me do that. especially this ones who's a bitch to me specifically bc i'm new. what should i do?

If it happens I’d take the issue to some higher ups. I work in a mall Starbucks and I’ve never been told I couldn’t go get a drink of water because it’s really hot.

Just keep in mind that you don't get paid nearly enough to die of dehydration. Then again, I have to hold in going to the bathroom during my shifts, so I feel you.

what? you're *scared?* so you mean you haven't even asked and you came to ask reddit what to do? this shouldn't be a big deal. TELL your sms that you're going to be drinking water because otherwise you're going to pass out. just make sure you're being presentable -- sip water behind a divider, not where customers can see you.

do you also just hold it if you suddenly have to go to the bathroom?

why are you prioritizing your well being below a minimum wage job?

I agree with your points but I don’t think your tone is necessary. You never know someone’s mindset. OP, certainly tell higher ups this issue.
