Chicago is controlling puppacinnos according to my manager 🙄(self.starbucksbaristas)

We can no longer serve them in short cups, but only in the small sampling cups. You know, the ones that we never have stocked because we don’t use them. We have to save the product! Short cups and whip cream are too costly! Never mind the fact that we account for it and ring it all up anyways!
Did anyone else’s manager come back with the weirdest irrelevant things to focus on while they ignored bigger picture problems? Ours is saying this was decided in Chicago. I asked for documentation, lol.

Well it’s a waste to serve them in the short cups. My store serves them in the little plastic ones.

A waste of...? We’re not filling the whole cup with whip. It’s half full at most. We sell MAYBE 20 short drinks in a week and could build a house with our back stock.
Can I ask where/what state you are? I have never seen them served in the sampling cups in any of the stores I’ve worked at or been a customer to in a few different states.

But if you are not filling the cup then why give out that size cup? If you have that many short cups backstocked that you don’t use then someone isn’t doing your orders correctly.

You don’t need to tell me twice that our orders are wrong. We are neither a well run nor well supported bux. But, we don’t have sampling cups and the short size is what we have available. If we ring it out, it accounts for inventory: why does it matter? If Starbucks really cares about this “waste” (that a corporation like us can eat the cost of anyways, let’s be real about this) then they can update the registers to charge for whip cream and cups.

Ok but just order the sample cups and use those when you have them? Everyone gets pissed when customers order venti drinks in Trenta cups and this is the same thing. Idk why it’s such a big deal...

We’ve always served them in the shot glasses

That's the dumbest thing I've ever heard. We still use the short cups, we always have lots AND there is a spot for them out near the bar. All of our sample cups are held in the back so if we started doing that we would have to find some non-existent counter space or run to the back every single time. Also how would it be wasting cups? I literally throw away so many unaccounted for cups every day for various reasons, there's no way to keep track. It's just as much of a waste to give out cups of water!

My manager has said nothing about this and we still serve them in short cups, but I hope we keep doing them in shorts

I have worked in Starbucks in both IL and ME and in both we have used sample cups, not short cups.

At one of my stores we stopped giving pupcups to kids because they abused it so much, we would go through an entire extra HC every day. DM eventually authorized us to refuse them to kids which was amaaaazing. All of my stores have kept sample cups in stock so that's just on whoever does the order to add in.
I do short cups for big dogs though, but not filled up. That much whip isn't great for dogs, but the samples are a little small for big woofers.
