okay so this middle aged white mom comes in,, i greet her,, she orders,, everything is fine and dandy. her total comes out to like $7.68 or something and she hands me $7,, before reaching into our unlabeled tip jar to get change. i give her a look like "????" and she's like "??????" and eventually she's like "ohhh thats a tip jar" like bitch ? what else would it be ? she eventually found another dollar bill and we completed the transaction,, i was polite to her and everything. a few minutes later i was thinking about this altercation and i guess i had a weird expression on my face bc one of my partners was like "omg whats up ?" over the headset. and i was like "oh this lady thought our tip jar was just a take a penny thing or something idk" and my coworker says kinda loudly "she didn't realize there were literally $10 bills in the jar ???" and i guess the karen heard and knew what was being discussed. so i guess she reported it to our shift and we gave her a recovery card,, and it was fine. i do feel genuinely bad,, like hell if she really didn't have the change i would have covered her 68 cents or whatever. i was just in a really awkward position bc i don't see how in what universe would it be okay to take money out of what is clearly a tip jar ?
