Hi I was recently hired and I just had a question. How soon is too soon to ask for a half day off? I have a concert I have to attend for my music class and then I have to go to 2 theatre productions to write papers on. And then in November I wanted to request a Friday night/ Saturday morning off for my 21st bday. And that’s pretty much it but I don’t want to make a bad impression. Do they get mad at you for requesting part of the day off??

You should ask off as soon as you know you have a schedule conflict. The earlier the better. If your SM gets mad that you have a life outside of work, they're probably mad at everyone. As long as you use the proper channels and that week's schedule isn't already posted, they should be able to accommodate.

I do the scheduling at my store. As long as you give enough notice and there aren’t a bunch of people already requesting off then idc

if you can work later that day you should be fine!! definitely talk to your manager tho
