One day in register a customer ordered a Venti Berry Very Hibiscus refresher. She added on she worked at a licensed Starbucks and won best barista on her store (Just because).
She then added on that she wanted her refresher very specific. She didn’t like the dust particles from the berry inclusions floating around her drink so she wanted us to take 7 INDIVIDUAL berries and tap off the berries until the little dust berries are no more to be seen, THEN shake it, serve.
My whole thought process of this. As her being a supposing, barista winner at her licensed store. Would she not have already known that the Berry Inclusions are what creates the color of the drink? Which means, the shaking effect of the berries, even after tapping the shit out of them individually, can’t guarantee we can make the drink she wanted perfectly...
The dust berries will still be up float.
We did what we could. We did what she wanted, the berries still did it’s thing, but she wasn’t happy with her drink.
The best we can do next time. Is let her know that as a cooperate store, similar to license. We can do what we can to make the moment right. However, some drinks can’t be made to perfection. Also adding on, that maybe it may be easier for her if we put aside the 7 berries for her and just shake the water/juice/ice into her cup.
What would you do? Did we do the right thing? As a shift of my store. Positive advice would be great!

Tell her you’ll make her drink to standard and that you’ll try your best to add whole berries. There’s North Star and then there’s outrageous. If she wants her drink made that intricately, she can go to her own store and make it herself.

I would be embarrassed to order something like that from another barista. Like if you want a combination of a bunch of random syrups and half this and half that, I got you. But this? That’s a little ridiculous.
