Shift supervisor advice (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by ConsistentWorry
So I’ve been a shift for about 2-3 months and barista for over a year. I moved to a new store for the promotion and was excited but I feel like my SM doesn’t trust me or the baristas to do anything.

Ex: My baristas can’t go in the back to do dishes, grab product, or brew coffee.

My SM just takes over the floor and runs it when I’m on the floor. I’ve given up even trying to say I’m shift, they say “nope I’ve got it”
I stay on task I feel like I deploy the floor fine. Part of me wants to put my foot down and say I’m running the floor but I feel like that’d also be overruled.
What can I do? Do they want me to step up? I just feel really oblivious to something.

I have two jobs currently one of them sbux where I’m a barista and the other job I’m a shift. At the other job I am a transfer. I am used to running my shift and the GM not being scheduled the entirety of my shift or at all. At this new location, I’m pretty much an over paid team member. I have no authority or am able to delegate tasks. For the first month it was extremely hard for me to get used to. Now I just run thru the motions. At the end of the day I’m getting paid the same but now I do less work. It doesn’t feel right but I’ve accepted it. You can always try talking the issue out but for me I’m can see this Gm is set in her ways. I don’t think it’s anything personal, I think at your location it’s just how they probably do things (?)
