i'm still absolutely fuming over this okay so there's this customer we get every once in a while who's like some pharmacy rep or something and he buys a bunch of people at the hospital this huge ass order that's a pain every single time. he has the people write down their orders and then brings it in on a picture on his phone and they're never specific. one of the people just wrote "fruity lemonade," no size or anything. he's annoying, but he's usually fine.

but today, like 10 minutes before my shift was over, he came in and did his order normally, everything was fine, but he just walked off without paying to go do some other shopping in the store, so i had his whole huge ass order entered in on the register with a line of other customers coming up trying to order. my manager just told one lady that we had a huge order and that it'd be a while so she left for a little bit to come back.

and so the guy comes back a minute or two later with a shit ton of little snack things and i finish ringing him up and then he asks if he needs a rewards card (the grocery store's rewards card, which you have to get from a cashier and fill out a form to activate it) and i said no you don't NEED one, and he asks if he needs to get one or if we can just use one that we have behind the register. my manager told him, no, we can get fired if we do that and he just scoffs and says "y'all are so strict!" and then he's like so do i need to go get one? and i just turn to my manager helplessly and i say "yeah you can if you really want to???" and fucking leaves AGAIN to go sign up for this fucking rewards card in the middle of his huge fucking order!!

and then the lady that we turned away before comes back and she's like "y'all can't do that, i'm from corporate, you can't just keep customers from getting their starbucks! i'm not gonna call and complain now but i'm just saying..." and at that point i was so fucking frustrated and done i was just like "okay" and asked what her order was and gave it to my partner on bar but i still couldn't ring it up because the guy before hadn't fucking paid he'd just ran off in the middle of making an order so i had to fucking call customer service to void his order which had taken me a good two minutes to ring up the whole thing so i could get miss corporate her fucking overpriced iced coffee

and the guy comes back like five whole minutes later with his little rewards card and i had to tell him that i had to void his whole order to ring somebody else up and he groans like I'M wasting HIS time! but thank fucking god it was finally time for my shift to end and my manager clocked back in and took over so i could go the fuck home. thank fucking god i have tomorrow off i swear.

Has he tipped before? Sounds like the type of guy not to tip even though his order is over 50 dollars. Also was the lady actually from corporate or was she just saying that? Because I get customers that try to get special service because they’re “from corporate” all the time.

We had a lady say “I’m a Starbucks secret shopper the company hires me to tell them about the service” in DT the other day lol

Secret shoppers aren’t supposed to reveal that they are secret shoppers, so either someone is lying or they’re doing a shitty job.

we don't get secret shoppers, she was lying.

Do we really not have secret shoppers?

Wow how secretive

You can't save orders at your store?
too3dgy 7 points 3y ago
I'm not sure if your cashes/systems have the option, but at my store we're able to save orders and come back to them if a customer needs more time so we can pass the next person in line. I work in Quebec so it's "enregistrer la commande", so I'm not too sure what yours would be. Just thought I'd let you know :) It's one of the green buttons under where the price is displayed.

Maybe I’m just speaking for myself, but I worked at the ssc for about ten years-nobody I knew there EVER said ‘corporate’. If it came up while getting a drink at a store, ssc partners would say just that-“I work at the ssc’. Times may have changed but I’d call bullshit on anyone who says that. Never mind that if someone really does work at the ssc or a regional office they could easily find a dm or rm’s email info to make a complaint if they reeeaally felt it was necessary.

What’s SSC?
widefeetwelcome 5 points 3y ago
Starbucks support center. It is the corporate office, but nobody who actually works there calls it that (in my experience anyway).

Very interesting. I’ve never heard it called that before, but then again I’ve only ever had like one corporate lady come through my store that I know of... she was dressed up and had partner numbers so I asked her what store she’s from and she goes “I work for corporate.” She does something with retail like she handles the products we sell in grocery stores or something.

Hm. It’s possible, but sounds weird. She sounds like a channel manager or someone who works out of a regional office. Maybe they do call it corporate at the regional offices.

that guys a douche and that lady if she *really* was from corporate is a douche too. how are you from corporate knowing how crazy starbucks can get and want to complain to you when it’s the other customer causing this situation? she should be MORE understanding but corporate bitches will be corporate bitches. I guess it’s easy to say something when you’re not the one doing the work and dealing w the bullshit. sorry you had to go through that :/ enjoy your day off !!!

Couldn’t you have saved the order and opened it back up when he got back?
