Honest Mistake (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by LaurdAlmighty
So I'm being sent home early by my shift who claimed I stormed off the floor, when I was calm, but I was just tired.

I came in this morning and even was asked to clock on early because the peak was kicking ass, double star day, down a person. I was on my feet 6 HOURS and got no break, scarfing down accident food(2 items) and tried caffeine and was tiring out, all those though was 2 hours after I even clocked in. Everyone else got a break and lunch except me, but I'm in trouble because I was really tired and the 2 other people coming on were pissing around and a few minutes late. I told my shift I'm going on my lunch and when I came back he berated me.

Do you guys usually pick your own break times? I can kinda see why your shift would be upset.. 😬

Whether they pick their own lunch times or not, by law, if you work 6 hours you get an uninterrupted 30 minute lunch break. OP was clearly working hard all day, so if everyone else is getting their breaks and they are not, they’re still entitled to that break.

Yes of course! I wasn't saying they shouldn't have a break. Legally and morally we need breaks. I was just seeing the shifts perspective if a partner left the floor when the shift was clearly losing control of the floor already.

No worries my friend, I was just asking if they got to pick when they took breaks.

I dont understand what you're trying to say.

I was told I could have it at 3 after they forgot I needed a lunch and a break all day, but he also doesn't like giving us 10s.

Honestly out of everything the actual point is he lied about what I did. On top of he has a bias towards me. Was it my fault I didn't wait because I was dead tired yes. To lie and say I acted like I was throwing a tantrum is different .

You right, my point wasn't important. What I should have said was that it sucks your shift was garbage and they forgot to give you breaks. It's an exhausting job and when the shift isn't good at managing the floor it makes everything worse. It is good you stood up for yourself.

It's ok, I probably got written up but I'm going to keep track of these things in paper because while I'm not the perfect employee it's also not fair that he gets away with murder.
