Do y’all still do cuppings (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by cinemarshall
I was a barista intothousandfour and we used to do cupping is every week as part of our training and customers could even order them and I’m wondering if you guys still do them let me know immediately. I don’t wanna be completely embarrassed if I asked for one at a store

I’m a fairly new partner (270xxxx) but I have never heard of this...

...Same.

That’s just a tasting isn’t it? If so, at my store yes.

It’s probably the same thing.

Although I should say I’ve never had a customer ask to do a tasting. I’d probably have to ask another partner if someone asked me about it.

The reason I’m curious is my coworkers now all want to do one at a Starbucks for our next meeting. I think it may just totally piss of the workers though.

I mean you can always ask for something to be made with the French press and ask for some doppio mugs.

What exactly is it?

It’s a fancy tasting where you pour over just water on the grounds in a warm cup and basically just brew in a cup. We had a coffee passport that we had to take notes in every week on different coffees or update over time.

They don’t really tell us about the coffee passports anymore since they’re all digital now. I didn’t know they were a thing until I’d already been a partner for a month and done a few tastings.
