You totally could make a dark roast pour over with Espresso blend. As for opening a retail bag to do a pour over, my store does it all the time 🤷

An old manager told me that it all evens out as far as sales vs coffee waste goes

My store has always opened a bag for a pour over if a customer requests it. I mean we are a clover store but I didn’t think that had anything to do with it, because we’re still using it for a pour over and not on the clover. Also espresso roast is totally a thing (we sell 1lb bags of them) and you could’ve used espresso beans to make her a pour over! No big deal though, live and learn.

It’s all about the connection and the experience now, to hell with everything else. Open that 1 lb pound of coffee for 4 Starbucks scoops and make that experience right for the child that woman is.

It is Starbucks standard to always open any retail coffee for a pour over upon customer request. Starbucks is far more concerned with customers satisfaction than it is with wasting half a pound of beans.
