My ASM forgets to give breaks!!! Help (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by cmamontova
About a month ago we got a new asm. Every time she runs a shift she completely forgets to give people their breaks while she is in the back “doing cs” (nothing is ever done) and she is so oblivious to the fact. We have to constantly remind her. Today I was on Dt bar from 7:00am - 12:30 with NO BREAK. I reminded her I kid you not 7 times and so did my co-workers! This is an ongoing issue that all baristas have noticed. Do I go to my store manager? Above her? IM NOT SURE help! I don’t want it to be awkward working with her, but this needs to be fixed!

Absolutely go to your store manager. Your ASM is violating federal law. If your SM doesn’t fix the issue then go to your DM.

I don't know the federal law you speak of. In California we are given at least 10 minute breaks every 3 and half hours and 30 minutes after 5 hours of work.

I do, however, stand by my previous advice. And I’d add that you should check TeamWorks to make sure yourASM isn’t altering your punch times and you’re getting the extra hour of pay for your meal break violations.

R.I.P. silly me thinking that the gov would have a meal and rest break law.

Yes if you’ve talked to the asm many times go to the SM. If you have ambition to promote you could just delegate breaks yourself and run the floor.

If nothing gets done call partner contact center. They will have a investigation done big time. Not giving out brakes is illegal.

Definitely talk to your SM. It’s unfair to do that to baristas and as basically a manager in training, the SM needs to them this isn’t okay to forget.
