Personal opinion here but I detest when people have personal cups in DT. When it’s not busy, sure I don’t care. But when it’s peak and im on DT bar pounding out drinks it completely fucks up my sequencing have to wait for the car to actually be at the window to give me their cups. At that point I’m making drinks for 3 cars behind them I DONT HAVE TIME FOR THIS FOOLERY. And then for them to be like “oh can you dump this and rinse it out” how about you do your own fucking dishes before handing me your 2 day old coffee filled tumbler Karen.

Yesssssssssss!!! Also we aren’t allowed to take people’s trash/lids because of health violations but we can take and rinse out their whole cup?? Doesn’t make sense to me

Right??? I’ve had people hand me tumblrs with curdled milk or old tea bags. And it’s not simple to just refuse to clean it. When we are busy and I’m just trying to serve customers I end up having to rinse the disgusting cup and just make the damn drink while fuming on the inside. I don’t have tome to fight with someone at a dt window about how I can’t take their garbage.

Yes!!! This aggravated me to no end. If it’s a tea or a refresher like it’s not as bad as a latte or macchiato. And come on people I don’t want to touch nasty old milk and coffee. Like how are they not embarrassed by this mess?!?!

I just prep shots and milks pitcher aside and move on till they get to the window and continue my sequencing.
And yes they would get dead shots. Not my problem 😂

I do this too but I also will like, pour a little milk with the shots in like a short cup. We have a guy that gets a venti iced white mocha light ice, no whip, so I'll do the shots and white mocha and a little milk and then pour it in his cup and add more milk

if it's a refresher or tea, I'll make it and put the shaker w lid on dt, still figuring out the best way to do this w espresso drinks w/o using another cup tho

Honestly when it’s really really busy I end up queuing their espresso into a short cup and steaming their milk and literally set it to the side, letting it expire until I get their cup at the window. It’s impossible for me to make their drink when they pull up to the window, which is the only possible way to make an espresso beverage in a personal cup that isn’t using expired shots.

My favorite is when I put in the cup discount, and they’re confused as hell when it only brings them down .10

Like no Ashley, your personal cup isn’t going to take off half the price of your pink drink.

And don’t forget the customers who get HEATED if they don’t get their 10 cent discount if you accidentally forget to punch it in. I was training a new partner and they had accidentally rung in a woman’s 2 beverages without giving her the personal cup discount. She had payed, then realized the mistake and was NOT happy about it. The new partner called me over because he didn’t know what to do so I told him to perform a refund like how I had shown him. Well.... doesn’t he get super flustered and the drinks he punched in to refund were not punched in with all of her extremely specific modifications. Like lady... your getting 2 drinks FOR FREE because we forgot to give you your 20 CENT DISCOUNT. Take the damn free drinks and your attitude and leave.

Our SM marked out one hot and one cold reusable cup for each espresso machine to make DT personal cup drinks into. Then pour into the customer cup and rinse it like a steaming pitcher.

I always get this lady that comes in with some dirty ass cup like dirty as fuck and I always offer to rinse it but it bothers me she never asks me to or it’s never been given to me clean

I think I’m just a bad person because I don’t care how dirty the cup I will literally make their drink in the dirty cup without rinsing unless they ask me to. Don’t hand me a dirty cup and say nothing and just expect me to clean it.

we still mark the cups too, and half the time people say about their own cup at the very end of the order so by that time I've already marked the cup and wasted it, and they don't even get charged the 5p environmental charge

I used to just make the drink in a pitched and put the pitcher in the DT handoff so the person on DTO can pour it in for them, then grab the pitcher back next time I drop off a drink

At my store we have a hot reusable cup and a cold reusable cup just for personal cup DT orders! So we can prep the drink beforehand and hand it off, and our DTR partner just dump the finished drink in the cup and top it! It works pretty well for us!

We have a super busy DT in a high volume store. Our solution for this is to have a reusable cold retail cup. We just keep it by our steaming pitchers in one of the clear square containers ( I honestly can’t think of the name right now bc I’m not at work lol). You can basically have the drink already made and waiting for the car. I’ll either have my DTO person pour it in their personal cup or I’ll pour it in and add toppings like whip if needed. It still takes a little longer than usual, but at least you can go ahead and start queuing up other drinks.

Im a partner but i do bring my reusable cup through the drive thru BUT i make sure it's clean and i get drinks like shaken teas or refreshers, i dont understand getting a hot drink or even a frapp. Kinda grosses me out

If it’s peak, I completely ignore the personal cups for DT, it only gets fucked up when it’s a caramel macchiato or something like that. What can you do
