The nerve of some people is both infuriating but also applauding at how ballsy they can be. I’m ringing you this lady at drive through and with full seriousness, she asked me if she can have my partner lunch. After a moment of processing I told her no and she then asked why not, again I needed more time to think how is this even a topic of conversation and why she feels offended and entitled. My silence then led her into asking if the girl on bar has had her lunch and if she can have hers. I’m looking at the person in the passenger seat to see if they’re laughing, they’re not. They were smiling but in a way of, “come on man, just give it to her”
I really hate people. Sure, you can have my one lunch I’m given a day while working minimum wage 🙃

Wait what? Like your food markout?
kediquinn [OP]20 points3y ago
Yup, took me off guard
paolathepanda32 points3y ago
That is literally that most weirdest things I've ever heard a customer do. Like, you want free sbux food ? Then apply for the job smh
MamaDavenport24 points3y ago
If it happens again, just smile cheerfully and say “I’ll get you an application so you can get your own!” Or something like that. 😂😂

A stranger in DT asked a green bean the other day for her coffee markout and when they said no she asked if she could have the half empty bottle of caramel on drive bar. People are weird.

Wait .. What free lunch??? Not in Canada
kediquinn [OP]2 points3y ago
You don’t get a food mark out on your shifts?
Leahwallzorz6 points3y ago
Yeah not in Canada. 30% off on purchases and free drinks, no free food.
maggiharper1 points3y ago
Same in the UK 💔
mcr04145 points3y ago
Isn’t that nuts? It’s only us partners and it hasn’t always been a thing. When I first started we had to pay for everything except one drink during your shift
Lunatics_Apprentice1 points3y ago
Same in Europe. We’re licensed, but we don’t even get a discount or anyting, just free drinks when you’re on shift and we’re not even allowed blended drinks...
GoldTurds-1 points3y ago
The frappuccino base is expensive AF
say_whaat_12 points3y ago
Wait what? Karen's moved on from ripping off corporate to ripping off minimum wage workers? Tsk tsk.
mcr041411 points3y ago
You could also get fired giving away your mark outs lol you should of told her that. It’s a benefit of being a partner. It’s meant to be used for you.
AffectionatelyMolded6 points3y ago
This hasn’t happened to me since I’ve been here at Starbucks but it’s happened to me at another job. I worked for a shoe store and we got good discounts, well a woman came up to me and was like can I ask you a question, I thought she was just a normal customer so I was like of course, what can I help you with. She said can I use your discount, my cousin works for the store but they already used their discount. I was dumbfounded. I just stood there for a minute then I was like no, I’m sorry, I can’t do that. I don’t know you. People need to understand that we get these benefits because we WORK for the company.
YellowSphinx3 points3y ago
Good on you for handling those chucklef***s I would have laughed at them and been like hell nah bro beans.
julesbusev6 points3y ago
Same, my response to things like this is, “hahaha you’re so funny!” And then turn to my other store partners really loudly, “you guys want to hear the most hilarious joke that so and so made?” If you act genuine enough about thinking it’s funny it usually shames them.
kediquinn [OP]2 points3y ago
It’s a privilege given to few and it’s earned. People like this need to back off.
kediquinn [OP]2 points3y ago
That’s completely unfair 😡😡😡
JHOOOOBI2 points3y ago
I would have told her no. And when she asked why I would have said because you don’t work here and aren’t entitled to have it. Want a partner markout? Get a job at Starbucks.
MsMeggers1 points3y ago
Haha I’ve had other partners ask for my food and I’m always like Nah Fam, I need my free food. But if a customer asked me I would laugh in their face without shame. If you need food that bad then why are you buying coffee at Starbucks??!
