Start observing your shift supervisors’ behavior in your store and assess the situation when let’s say someone calls out or it’s crazy busy or they’re handling difficult situations. I think that may or may not help you with that decision since you know the environment of your store.
I can’t speak for everyone, but personally I don’t think it’s worth it, UNLESS you’re considering moving up in the company. I demoted myself and prefer being a barista and only having to worry about myself vs. being a shift and having to worry about an entire store and staff. it’s a lot of work. It taught me a lot. But I wouldn’t be the first one to recommend it.

Fuck no it’s not worth it. You’ll do good a few times, but you’ll always be asked if you can do a little better. And the moment shit goes wrong on a shift, you better be ready to be interrogated or belittled until they feel like the moment is right.
