So I'm an SM and recently my "star" shift supervisor has been caught with alcohol on the premise and two days later, got in such a bad argument that a barista quit.

I'm totally in the right to separate but I know that my team will feel betrayed and wonder why I made that call. Has anyone dealt with this as a barista or SM or anything? I'm worried I'll loose a bunch of partners

Maybe there’s something you can do other than firing them. Consider asking them to step down. Use whatever boloney corporate taught you about approaching mental health issues w partners.

Remember that as a SM, you are trained to care about your store and your people. Separating this partner helps YOUR people, because if he/she keeps this behavior you may loose more partners. It's all about tough calls, baby! People come and go, I can'y count how many turn overs my store has had because of this. Don't worry, you have to do whats right. ❤️

In terms of company standards, acknowledging the barista approach, apron model, etc... I think you know what the “right” thing to do is, unfortunately. I’m a SSV and I’m blessed to have a great, friendly relationship with everyone at the store, including my SM. Personally, if this was my store, I would hope my SM would separate them from the company no matter how much of a “star” this shift was ): People may be upset because this person no longer works there, but your job is to keep these kind of things in check and honestly, it’s not your fault to blame! You’re doing your job and that’s all anyone could ever ask for (: you’re dong great! No stress
