ok so i’m new right and i’m not good with the register yet but i feel like i should be, how long did it take you to get used to it?

It takes a while, and with the new holiday buttons just remember to go slow enough you read the buttons. No need to panic if there's a line, it's just coffee at the end of the day

im about 2 and a half months in, mainly front/dto, and i still don’t feel completely confident but it’s gotten easier for sure. i wouldn’t give yourself a hard time over it bc trying to familiarize yourself with all the drinks, inclusions, special instructions, etc. AND their location on a screen at the same time isn’t easy. eventually you’ll have heard various orders a billion times and muscle memory will kick in!

about a week, but i have very good memory. the pos is created in a way that everything is categorized.
the bottom categories are the “type” of drinks.
brewed hot/iced coffee, espresso based beverages, frappucinos, iced/hot teas, lastly others which is refreshers & non-coffee hot drinks.
the side buttons are the customizations!

okay so I think i’m a little dumb too and was super discouraged when i saw all my coworkers working the register like it’s no big deal but I promise at a certain point it’ll all just click. i was hired in the beginning of october and by halloween i didn’t need any help from my partners on the register. literally the other day i was able to help my manager find something on the register so it’s not you being dumb it’s just a really complicated system!

When people are glaring at you during holiday peak on a Saturday with their 20 gift cards that need to be loaded with 10$ each but then after that they have a six drink order, 2 sandwiches and three personal gift cards they’d like to combine onto one?

It's taken about a month for me and I'm still slow. We have to look through 3 pieces of paper and find codes and type those in.

I’ve only been working here a few weeks and I thought I would never get it, but I’ve definitely been getting better with it. I mainly just get confused when they order something with extra customizations or they speak as fast as possible. I recommend just playing around with the buttons when you have the time, just make up drink orders or have a coworker come up with a drink for you to press the buttons for.
