How late is too late? (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by Dorky_baby
We have a Shift that cant get us out on time after close. She transferred from a bigger, yet slower store about 2 months ago. She closes 4 of her 5 days and we always get out 1.5 to 2 hours after we are suppose to. The closing baristas are the sane ones bevause we have 4 that only close. When we close with other shifts we always get pit on time. But this whole closing at 9 and not leaving until midnight is getting tiring. And she's getting worse. She starts things and then doesn't finish and she has people do her job too.

I can’t imagine your SM is okay with that many unscheduled hours happening each week....

have you discussed this with your SM?

Um. That would def be too late. I could see if it was like a one time thing, one of those nights everything goes wrong...but every close...there’s a problem somewhere and your shift needs to be coached and/or held accountable by your SM

I have talked to my SM but she also just put her 3 weeks in. Besides the shift is the only one who can close that much each week.

I got written up for getting out ~30 minutes late semi-regularly, so I’m really surprised your manager isn’t more on top of this. Two+ hours on the regular is really bad and frankly pretty disrespectful to one’s baristas.

actual shift-specific closing duties should not take more than an hour to complete in their entirety. your shift needs to go lmao

bro how do you guys not get written up for this?????

I literally have never gotten in trouble for it, yet at least

Your sm is probably playing favorites. I’m a closing shift and I had to go through a whole dumb 60 day probation for taking 45 minutes a couple times. And I had legit reasons.

Maybe take it up with the district manager?

I’ve been out awhile but I remember getting out in ~30 minutes for a small (2 machine) store with a small cafe, and I don’t remember any store that had more than an hour scheduled for close. We did good closes with lots of prep on those times, too, so I don’t know what the hell your shift is doing.
