Things I try to drill into my greenest beans: frequent hand washing. Every time you walk into the floor, wash your hands. Wash your hands after you change garbage, and after you go to the washroom. Wash your hands in the washroom and when you step onto the floor after washing your hands in the washroom. Just, wash your hands more than necessary. Take off your apron before entering the washroom even if you're just changing the toilet paper or something.
Don't touch your hair or face. Cough or sneeze into your elbow. Wash your hands after you cough into your elbow. If you touch your hair or face, wash your hands.
Smile at/greet every customer. If you make eye contact say good morning, or hello, or something. When a customer says thank you, say thank you back. Or sometimes you're welcome. NEVER say no problem.

Great advice. I love the reminder to was my hands a lot. I do anyways but I think even if they are already clean, it makes everyone feel better about it. And, I am the GREENEST OF Green Green Beans

It definitely helps if you're already a frequent hand washer. There are some people who start and I feel like their hands only get washed when they bathe lmao. I feel like I tell them "wash your hands" a hundred times a shift in the beginning. But after a while it becomes second nature. The ONE time you don't wash your hands, a customers gonna see it and complain/leave a negative review lmao.

My SM had our newest hire go ahead and take her bean markout the day of her first sip 😂 it’s yours bean you take it! And it’s a use it or lose it system so if you don’t get it before the end of the week you just lost out 😩 I try to get mine on Monday so I don’t forget!
As far as your drinks you can just hop in line and order it and give your partner number and the partner on register will type it in and boom free drink! 🙌🏻 you can get them thirty minutes before or after your shift at whatever store you’re working at that day (so you can’t stop at a store closer to your house and get a free drink on the way) and during your shift as well.
And for the third question some stuff is just learn as you go. Honestly whoever your trainer is should have been going over this stuff with you during the training modules. At the end of each one it will say “activity” and you’re supposed to do a practice run of whatever you covered 🙃 that way you don’t get overwhelmed with information but no practical application til your training period is over.
Some basic things to remember: wear your hat and apron when you’re customer facing and on the clock unless you’re doing a task that makes that unhygienic (like trash runs and cleaning the bathroom). If you’re walking through the lobby engage with the customers and make them feel welcome. And when you hand someone a drink and they say thank you, we technically are supposed to say “thank you” and not no problem or you’re welcome. Just breathe before you go on the floor and check in with yourself, your team, etc. to see what’s going on and what to expect.
You’re gonna do great! If you feel like you aren’t prepared properly by whoever has trained you don’t hesitate to ask questions to them or another leader in the store for clarification! Because some things vary from district to district so you wanna make sure the answer you’re getting lines up with your individual store and team’s way of doing things ❤️

Thank you so much. I really did not get any feedback as I completed my modules. But I took copious notes. This is my part time job. I have an associates, bachelors, and masters degree and I am more nervous about this then I have been with my regular job in years. So exciting.

I used my mark out probably a week or two in. I used my free drink immediately. You can have them make it but it is so much easier to ask to be taught how to make the drinks you want. Mainly because making my own drinks has been my bar experience since I’m not on bar often or at all.

Thank you. Good advice

Don’t worry about looking greedy. I worried at first too and then realized no one cares.
Green beans usually are put on the register. When you don’t have customers, check out all the buttons on the POS screen. That will help you to learn where they are, faster. Also note the side of the POS when you type in a drink, you’ll see how many pumps of syrup, etc are in each drink. That will start you for learning how to make the drinks.
It’s a little overwhelming at first, but over time you’ll get into a groove and it will get easier!

Hey friend! First, get your coffee mark out whenever you like! I never keep track of whenever partners get theirs. You sometimes see it happen, and other times you don’t. I just assume a partner isn’t a coffee drinker if they don’t. It’s there, so use it! Also, don’t be afraid to ask about your FREE Spotify account. It’s really nice to have! Second, get as many drinks as you want. I always get one before I work on different training modules. I’ll usually also order one right when I get to work, which is around 10 minutes before my scheduled time. That way if I have a dry spot in my throat when I’m working, or I’m just really thirsty, I have a drink waiting for me in the back. Same protocol for a mark mount, drink, or food. Have a partner ring you up, let them know you’d like to use it, and give them your numbers. Third, my best advice to you is to always ask questions. If there is something that doesn’t make sense, ASK! Know you’re not going to learn everything on your first day. I didn’t get comfortable at baring until really my third month of working at Starbucks. Be honest with your customers. I guarantee that people would rather wait a minute while you double check the recipe for a drink, instead of getting something incorrect. A quick way to do that is ask a partner or check the recipe from the register!
