Seasoned bean amongst the new and innocent beans (self.starbucksbaristas)

Edit: tried to change the title. Half way through I realized we don’t even have any brand new partners. Should’ve just been “4 year barista feels like dying”

So I just hit my 4 year literally 2 days ago. I’ve seen a lot in my time. However, Ive noticed I get used to some degree because of my sense of urgency and dedication to my work. However, One day was particularly different. This day was proof as to how much work I (and a few others) do compared to some. It verified my already existing frustration to lazy workers.
First Happy Hour of the holiday season. It was brutal.

Frappuccino’s everywhere.

Peppermint brownie cake pops and beheaded snowman cookies scattered the floor.

The souls of many barista quickly gone, for the customers ripped them of their sanity and dignity shortly after 2:01.

The gates of hell had been unleashed.

7 o clock comes around and no closing tasks are done.

The calm after the storm.

I’m surrounded by dried mocha and crystallized sugar. The ceiling bares old frap roast splatters resembling a horrible Frappuccino frenzy.

However, beneath the dark exterior of a dead 4 year barista lies a glimmer of hope.
For she, a customer support/closing monster, has someone by her side to help her.
This person, is someone who does not sit on their phone.
This angel does not waste time and sees the importance of organized systematic operations.
Could it be? ANOTHER seasoned barista that had the sense of urgency to CLEAN UP and PREPARE the store for CLOSE?
A concept. To leave the time your schedule says?
Shocking.
This my friends, is the tale of the time, sleepy218barista realized that despite the shitty day, you can still get out on time if you DO YOUR JOB.

We walked out 1 minute after we were scheduled. Sticky, but happy.

The following Sunday. Half the amount of business.
2 extra people up until 9.
My angel was no where in sight.
My help and solitude in my darkest time, alas, was no where to be found.
I started to slip into a delusional state from all the sanitizer water, restroom cleaner and multipurpose cleaner.
I clocked out 45 minutes late.

Someone, please explain this tragedy.
For I am done, tired and dead.

Disclaimer: I already knew all of this. This situation just made it more apparent than it has ever been.

I’m a closing shift and we normally have 2 barista closing, but last night we had 6 scheduled for some reason. Sunday is brutal so we usually get out 15 minutes after scheduled, but with 4 extra baristas we got out an HOUR after scheduled. No one had any sense of urgency since we had so many people, and nothing was getting done despite me directing everyone like usual.

That is so frustrating. This also shows that sometimes having too many people is not beneficial. That’s A LOT of extra bodies. Like, how??? Just do your job and go home. Crack some jokes here and there but just do your job. Lol

not working with other fast and efficient seasoned beans makes me so so sad
i’ve been scheduled with new babies for over a week now and the only days we don’t *die* are the days that i have at least one other human who knows something
and i know that they are new and it’s not their fault but like....wanna die

Right it’s not the green beans fault. However, the title is misleading. These people aren’t that new. 4-5 months to a year. I tried to change the title. But they’re all relatively seasoned at this point.
It just goes to show having 4 lazy people doesn’t even equal to 2 efficient workers cause they still get out late. Lol.
