Tips on steaming milk?? (self.starbucksbaristas)

I'm a greenbean who has only been working for a day in a kiosk. I've only learned basic stuff like sizes, number of shots or syrup per size, and how to steam milk. The first time i tried it milk went EVERYWHERE and it took me a few tries to get the hang of it, but sometimes I'd still try it again and milk would splash up.
Any tips on steaming milk properly without making a huge mess?

Make sure the steam wand is in the milk when you turn it on and then only just barely bring it out to aerate. You want it to be as quiet as possible.

Make sure when you start steaming, the steam wand is fully in the milk, and go slowly! If it's splashing, you're probably pulling the wand too far out of the milk. Pull the pitcher down slowly until you just barely hear the aeration/"paper shredding" noise. As for when you put the pitcher down, make sure the wand is to the side of the pitcher a bit, so its creating a whirlpool, not just splashing to the side.
Other than that, make sure you aren't overfilling or underfilling the pitcher. Good luck!
